This morning at Churchill

Spent some time on the backstretch this morning at Churchill and I got to see some horses.

I got to see Dubai Escapade - she looked good. She breezed wonderfully and finished up strongly. But I really didnt like the way she looked after her work. She was a little sluggish and lathargic looking back at her stall.

Lava Man - He looked spectacular this morning during his gallop. It looks like this horse has only raced a couple of times this year. After the gallop, he was so full of energy it wasnt funny. His ears were pricked and he looked as if he wanted to race today. Very very good looking horse.

Suave - He looked ok this morning. But he galloped out strong which I like. I know he finished well in last years BCC but that field is no where near the field this year so dont let that sway you. He cooled down nicely and looked full of energy after his work.

Rush Bay - Hard to tell how these horses are looking over this turf course. The cones are up so they are on the best part of the turf track. However, the turf is so soft it isnt funny. Huge clumps of grass were flying everywhere. Rush Bay looked good, cooled out well but he has got a tough field. Even if he runs the race of a lifetime I dont think it is good enough.

Got The Last Laugh - well his work was so so at best. I do know if it was a maintenance work or if the horse was disinterested. He looked like he wanted to take a nap after his work. I think I will pass on this one.

I thought I saw Principal Secret. If it was PS then that horse is a freaking beautiful animal. And if it was PS then I didnt like the gallop at all. I know his work was good the other day, but this gallop was awful.

I met and had a donut with Christine Olavares (spelling?). What a nice young woman. Man she is a tiny thing as well. But she sure knows her racing.

Anyway, I am going back over around 2. If anything else develops I will let you know.

Thank you so much for the reports!

If there is no rain for the next week, what do you expect the turf course to be like?

(Notes from The Works; Lewis Michael didn't move off it so well, while Quite Royal did)

You can get a good glimpse of how good Lava Man looks on the NTRA website. That horse looks fantastic. After seeing him (on the website; I'm not in Louisville quite yet), I'm expecting a big effort. I love that guy. It is going to be an awesome BC!!!:D

Thanks for the updates Euro!

Hung with Donna Barton-Brothers this afternoon for a bit. We walked over and looked at Bel Aire Beauty. All I can say is wow oh wow. This filly looks fantastic. Donna said the horse worked awesome yesterday and she expects big things from her. Just by looking at this horse, I will feel very confident to put her as one of my top 4 choices.
