Worst Ride of the Year

We're basically at the end of the real racing year. Who you got for worst ride of the year? I nominate Gutierrez on Nyquist in the Preakness. I'm sure it's not the absolute worst ride of any jock in North America this year, as there's clearly some of the dumbest people on Earth riding horses on a daily basis, but considering the stage and circumstances, he's my vote.

That felt more like bad luck than anything else, pace being slow didnt help anything either. Thats fake trouble as well in my book, looks all pretty but what he would have gotten second, maybe. Since everyone saw it I bet he was 3/5 next out.

To me it is unquestionably a ride that ironically happened on the first day of the year, New Years Day. Gerrardo Corrales on the 5 horse in the Gulfstream Park Race 6 on January 1, 2016 when he thought he won a 1 7/16 race by about 8 lengths after the first turn when he was unprepared to know that it was a 3 turn race.

Not worst of the year nominated but pretty damn bad. Rafael Hernandez in Woodbine's 6th race last night, the Ontario Lassie.
Two year old fillies, his filly going first time two turns. Either she took off on him or he sent her but she looked like Precious Passion in the first half of the race. 46 half, stopped as expected, ran last.

Not his finest moment, and he's usually solid.

What's funny is that might have actually been the 2nd worst ride in the race too when you consider Patrick Husbands nearly ran his mount (the 1) into the tiring pacesetter!
