Anyone heard from him since August? He was going in for stomach surgery on Sept. 2nd and hasn't been heard from since. If you have his phone #, can you please try to contact him for those of us that are worried.
Someone mentioned on another forum they saw an obituary on Sept 4 (2 days after his surgery) of a Donald Joseph from his town, but that it may have not been him because of the age. |
Was wondering the same thing about him and about you too since I haven't seen you post much lately. I wonder whether Mike McClem might know. From their posts, they seem to be friends. Hope he is ok.

Here is a Obituary of a Donald Patrick Joseph of Helifax. I know he mentioned his wife to me from time to time, but I do not recall what her name was. Maybe someone from here will know him better and can clarify if this is him or not. http://www.sovanow.com/index.php?/ob...atrick_joseph/ |

I do not think the obituary is his, because I don't think he was 83 as it states in it. Michael (McClem) from here and another poster on another site conversed with him from time to time, and both have asked me if I have heard from him because they know we were friends as well. |

I wish i had information on DJ, but i do not know. Back before the last week of Del Mar contest he sent me a PM asking to to do his picks the last few days of the contest, he was going in for surgery to fix an aneurysm with a special stint, said he would be there 2-3 days. I returned the message, told him i would do the picks wished him the best, thoughts and prayers went with him. He returned that one thanking me for the prayers and that was the last message i received. I hope and pray he will turn up soon and he is ok, i wish i had his contact information, but sadly i do not. :(
DJ and myself had similar views on politics, which there's no secret clashed with many on of you on this board. Yes it even gets heated at times, because no matter the viewpoints, we all are passionate about our side. Which is actually not a bad thing. He loved a good debate, and as many of you know was not afraid to mix it up on politics. This site we all care about is not mostly about our political views, nor should any of us be defined in our our lives by said views on politics! DJ is a good man, husband, father, grandfather, a veteran who cares very deeply about our troops and of course his family. I hope and pray the man is alive and well and recovering, and i hope we find out something soon. :( |
The obituary that I read on Donald Patrick Joseph indicates that he had two great grandsons. One's name is Cole Edward and the other is Elijah Patrick. I thought I remembered him posting about the birth of Cole Edward and I looked back and found the post. I think this is the child in his avatar. If it's true and DJ(Bigrun) is gone, I am sorry for his family and for his friends here at Derby Trail. I will miss the friendly competition he and I had in contests and I will miss his cartoons in the politics section.

"I've been watching that for days..My son lives in Columbia and fortunately he is not in the flood zone...has a leak in the roof and had trouble getting anyone to come out and fix it..minor problem compared to many down there...prayers to all those suffering.." The obituary does state he had a son from Columbia, SC This is very sad and was hoping it wasn't his obituary. :( |
Sad news indeed...Rest in Peace DJ

RIP DJ. Sad news!
|
I certainly have had my bouts with DJ as we clearly did not see eye to eye on political issues, but I really hope that the obituary is not his. If so, it is very sad news to hear and wish to extend my condolences to his family and friends.

Sad to say....
That obituary was DJ :(As i previously mentioned he asked me to do his Delmar contest picks for the last week of the contest. Well, earlier i logged into the Delmar site and his profile information is a match with the birthday in the obituary. :( 83 years old retired Air Force, a good man. RIP D J :(
If anyone wants to send his widow a card, i have the address from the profile. Please send me a PM and i will give it to you. Thanks. |
Very sorry to see this.. An active participant here from nearly the beginning. RIP and best wishes to his family..

I only knew him through the contest thread, mainly the showvivor threads, but he seemed like a fun and supportive man and I was worried when I looked through the list of showvivor players before the meet started, and he wasn't there, because I know he never missed a day. Very sorry to hear, RIP and condolences to his family and friends.
