Monmouth Park

What a beautiful day yesterday at Monmouth! Nice card with a little of everything..Weavers got a potential good one in War Tap that just exploded down the stretch to an impressive turf win. And pletchers Donegal moon looked good winning the Pegasus..A really nice day with a large Fathers day crowd gave me a great feeling racihg's not in as much trouble as some would have you believe..Or at least for one day, generations of families young and old, all gathered and enjoyed the day. Hadn't been up in a few years but my hat goes off to the staff and management for all their hard work! :tro:

Going there soon. A day there when it is sunny is absolutely an enjoyable experience. You get the vacationers, locals, a good mix.

My favorite is the liquored up smoothie stand along the wall closest to the track. Get the half and half mix.... add the rum or vodka...mmmmmm!

Horses...ocean breeze...hot sun...cold smoothie. = nice!.

I gotta get back there. Went on a Friday a few years back and really enjoyed it.

It is a beautiful place to sit relax and have a beer while watching the races and betting the simulcast.

There are twin Bulgarian beauties at the bar in front that are easy on the eyes, and heavy with the pour..A terrific combination in my world! Mighta had one too many gin and tonics just so I could watch then ply their trade.:D

Matt just looking at the numbers today.. For the meet favorites winning 54% of the time this last weekend 22 of 31 races won by the favorite 71%.. How do you approach a contest there?

I went for the first time last Saturday and while it was a gorgeous day and I did enjoy it there, the racing and the results were just something left to be desired. A day earlier, I contended that the early pick 5 might have been the worst betting sequence in the history of racing. It was 2 jump races, a baby maiden claimer, a cheap maiden race and then a 5k beaten claimer. Mind you that this was a day that NY had a late start and maybe they couldve taken advantage of the early crowd. I always contend that they should do things such as night racing to get away from going head to head versus NYRA.

But you hit the nail on the head, even though it's a beautiful venue why the hell would I go all the way there to bet Belmont? I dont have to leave the house for that.

As far as strategy goes, I would continue to use your system. I mean with the results that come in there, all you really need is to connect on one of your plays to be in the thick of it. If you should connect twice, I'd think you could possible run away with it. Watch out for Gallardo on the turf, I think he's a pretty good jock.

It hurts me to say it, cause I really love or should I say loved going there, but it's just to the point that it's not worth while wasting the time, effort or money to play that place right now. Its a great place for families to spend a beautiful day at the track, but for bettors they're better off putting their money in other pools.

It's a shame what has come of the racing at Monmouth given that it's such an amazing racetrack. One of my favorites in the country.

The product is absolutely dreadful and the handle shows it.

Was at AP on Sunday for a birthday surprise party. First race was a Md7500, 6 horses, 1 a 7 yr old making his 3 start in 3 years, fav was a stidham dropper from md 25'd(broke down). Next was a another dreadful race. Gorgeous AP has morphed into C level track.

Racing isnt dead but there are PLENTY of bad races at some simply wonderful pieces of real estate. At some point they will become shopping mall's

It is a disgrace and crying shame what AP has become.
