Loved the interview with Richard Papiese..........hard not to admire what he has done in the game!

Well done Steve!!

Thanks very much. Usually media shy, was able to get him on thanks to Doug Brader. The Papieses are very unusual people in the game given that they have backed up every commitment to support OTTB aftercare with their checkbook. They've also been a boon to racing offices across the country. Their implausible Illini-bred success with Work All Week and The Pizza Man may be able to influence the reprehensible Illinois political machine to live up to promises to properly support breeding and racing in the state. A great deal to like about the Papieses..

Amen to that............was there for July 4th and had a fantastic time. The facility is truly one of the best and it's just a shame to see the industry there being unappreciated. I lived in Chicago from 1988-92 and remember going to all 3 tracks (Sportmans was active then) and seeing some pretty fine quality racing.
