Help Needed.....Placing My Bet (Dortmund)

Full disclosure, I am all in with Dortmund. So if I bet him to win and he wins, then that's a nice payday by tripling or quadrupling my money (most likely).

But I'm greedy and want a bigger payout. My thought is to play him on top of every possible trifecta scenario, so if he does win, then I win the trifecta. So I have two questions.

1. What do i tell the person at the ticket window I want to do (short and sweet without holding up the line)? How much will that cost me on a minimal ticket?

2. Sticking with Dortmund as the winner, does anyone have a better wagering scenario to make more money oh him and what is it?

Thank you in advance for your help.

To bet the trifecta, you tell the teller $(amount) trifecta, 8 over all over all. Just know that on a $.50 base ticket that the cost will be $171.00 and there are some combinations that may pay less than the bet.

Thank you pointman! $171 does appear to be sticker shock. So if my budget is between $125 and $200 earmarked for Dortmund, do you or anyone else have a better idea of how to bet him?

Plus if he does win, this will be the last good odds on him for future races this year I think.

I think it would be a smarter bet to bet the whole $125 on him to win than bet the trifecta with all. Ya you may get lucky and hit a nice tri but if you love him and get 4-1 on him that's a nice payout

I think that is good advice knickslion. It would be bittersweet to have him win and not win money.

I might do a C Note on #8 to Win and $30 on Puca to win the Oaks today. These are Big Brown's kids and he won me over $1500.00 in 2008 so I might as well keep it in the family.

If you have $200 to play on him put $100 on him to win and put the other $100 on a Tri with him on top. I love Dortmund and my Tri plays will be $0.50 8,18 with 2,6,7,8,10,12,15,18,20 with 2,3,5,6,7,8,9,10,12,15,16,18, 19,20 cost $96 and $1 8 with 10,12,15,18,20 with 10,12,15,18,20 cost $20.

Lava, your math is just like my wife's. Both of you are over budget :)

You could drop the 18 out of the win spot on the $0.50 tri making it cost $58.50 or just play the $0.50 Tri.
