For older SoCal racing fans

This guy was undoubtedly the worst race caller in history, but all of us from the 80's-ish era have to remember listening to his radio show to get their fix when not at the track.

I learned not to tear up my ticket if he didn't call your horse the winner.

Growing up in LA in the 70's, Garr was a regular on my radio for the double and the feature race from Santa Anita. Always enjoyed the guest for the weekend features. " Under hand boot and whip"..

yeah, I loved him.

Yeah I remember those days. Once I learned what a good race caller was supposed to be like, I couldn't help but laugh at Garr. But I never missed his updates.
