Ed Sabol

Passed away yesterday at the age of 98. It cannot be overstated the degree to which his NFL Films popularized pro football, elevating its highlights to an art form

his decision to hire the "Voice of God" to narrate could b e the best hire in history. And the apple didn't fall that far from the tree, his son Steve was a genius. RIP

A close friend of mine had the pleasure of becoming a friend of Steve Sabol. She used to bring her students in to see Steve at his NFL Films office just over the bridge in Mount Laurel, NJ. He interacted with the kids and made them life-long fans of the sport. She couldn't say enough good things about the guy, and was devastated once he passed.

A true legend.

RIP Steve RIP Ed

They Really were responsible for making the NFL as popular as it is today. Before ESPN and Saturation NFL Films Game of the Week was it.

Highly accomplished swimmer for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Held the world interscholastic record for the 100 yard freestyle.

98 is a real good run. :tro:
