Ebola NYC

Now there is a case of Ebola in New York, from a doctor who has been back for six days but did not get a fever until this morning.

So, how many people have sat in a taxi cab after he was in it... contact tracing is being performed now. But the prospect of Ebola in a dense urban environment is a frightening prospect.

As the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said mandatory quarantines are not necessary for medical workers returning from West Africa, a U.S. Army general said that he and all his troops returning from Liberia would remain in isolation for 21 days.
But don't worry -- the troops are not under quarantine, they're just subject to the new term: "controlled monitoring." In isolation. Right.

At the White House, reporters confronted press secretary Josh Earnest with questions about the Ebola czar.

“What has changed since he started his job?” one reporter asked. “It appears as though this week there’s more confusion than there was last week, given what we’re seeing in New York and New Jersey, and more differences between how the states are dealing with it.”

Earnest insisted Klain was “coordinating the government response.”
Or is that the White House response?

Quote:

“His principal responsibility is a behind-the-scenes role,” Earnest said.

Klain’s workload, Earnest added, “limits the amount of time he has to make the case publicly” for the Obama administration.

With Klain out of sight, it was left to Dr. Thomas Frieden, head of the CDC, to issue new Ebola guidelines Monday.
Wasn't Klain supposed to do this, so that Frieden could focus on work instead of PR?

The doctor diagnosed is a member of my farm share, and the NY Times ran a nice piece on him:

He spends his life trying to help those in desperate circumstances, and has done more good in the world than most of us ever will. Best wishes to him for a safe recovery and may he go back soon to continue making the world a better place.
