Wouldn't it be Ironic and Fitting

If a politician, especially a U.S. Senator, was to lose his/her job because he/she was out campaigning instead of doing his/her job?
Especially when it involved National Security?

Thanks for the layup Kay!

No, it wouldn't.

One could aptly describe the shirking of responsibilities by an elected official to attend Armed Services Committee meetings in the wake of our Dear Emperor's impassioned plea to the world, and subsequent military commitment.... in favor of hob-nobbling and glad-handing - as incongruous.

The ruling on the field stands. It's pretty goddamned ironic.

No; it's just shirking work. Or rather, choosing one work commitment over another, since frankly, fundraising is part of a elected official's job for as long as we refuse to have publicly funded elections.

If American ISIS militants had bombed the place the official was hobnobbing, now THAT would have been ironic.

Semantics.

It's only a meeting...really no different than some slapdick average Joe dumbasscrat barista slave at Starbucks having an emergency meeting about a change in portion sizes.

Paradigm tards...gotta love em. They'll fight til the very end.

I think she also may have violated her oath of office? At least for a 'cocktail' hour.

And by the way, I didn't want to pollute the paddock but don't you find it ironic our village idiot, Riot changed your views on Lasix as not being a performance enhancer, and then she was fired for double-dosing horses using the same non-performance enhancer? You know since Lasix does not enhance performance. ;)

If someone lost their job, as a direct result of using poor judgement in attempting to save their job, it would be ironic.

If a terrorist attack occurred on American soil, where this cocktail party was being held- it would be tragically unfortunate, but not ironic. Regardless of what that Senator's primary responsibilities are.
Theoretically, it would likely be assumed that she single-handedly would not have thwarted the attack had she attended the meeting rather than then party, thus zero incongruity.
