attendence at saratoga

does anyone know what the attendence is up to date so far for the meet? is it closing in at a million/ or is that wishfull thinking

pointman 08-30-2014 01:05 PM

Does it really matter?

ontheoutside 08-30-2014 01:06 PM

pointman

does it really matter/ ahhhh yeah is does matter

helicopter11 08-30-2014 01:16 PM

How does it matter? The turnstyle tally is an old method to determine anything. While its good that people come to the track, it wont even come close to the off track betting revenue.

ontheoutside 08-30-2014 01:18 PM

is it a problem

that i would just like to know what the attendence is so far?

was this wrong to ask in your world?

ateamstupid 08-30-2014 01:23 PM

Pretty obvious they've been misreporting the attendance numbers all meet, so whatever the final number is it's meaningless.

ontheoutside 08-30-2014 01:26 PM

i didnt realize that a team

i wonder why theyed do that? that doesnt help in any way does it/

good luck the rest of meet

pointman 08-30-2014 01:36 PM

OTO, it is not that it is wrong to ask. It is that many misuse attendance figures to argue the sport is dying. In addition to what Ateam pointed out (which is true of all professional sports), attendance is not what counts in horse racing, handle is what counts.

ontheoutside 08-30-2014 01:40 PM

i understand that money is more important

but when i first asked i didnt mention the word important
i just wanted to know if anyone knew what the number was thats all
just a question
thats it

ontheoutside 08-30-2014 01:43 PM

if many

are misusing attendence figures to back up there play as to the sport dying
then this meet i would think [if given proper figures] would wash those naysayers down the drian coerrect/
900 to a million for this meet would in my eyes tell me the sport still has some omph left in it

i think you'd be better served looking at handle, not attendance. too many other ways to gamble-attendance isn't as important.

Do people realize people follow this sport for more reasons then gambling? When I go to a big race I meet gamblers, photographers, party people, pretty horsey people, families, picnicers... How does " handle" take into account anything other then gamblers?

ontheoutside 08-30-2014 06:50 PM

i agree tanner

i just asked a simple question

how many people have went to track sso far?

i thought it was a ok question

Who knows. Who cares?

Reported attendance is a Shell Game at this meet, and at some other tracks, as well.

Because attendance numbers are fake. Everywhere. All the time. They are useless.

I have to think the handle is what keeps the sport in business.
