Suicide, apparently. :(

Just really stunned and in shock.. If only he knew how many people loved him! :(

GenuineRisk 08-11-2014 06:57 PM

If there is something on the other side, I like to think that at least he's seeing his old friend again.

Terrible news..heard nothing on the eve news...great talent...never missed a Mork and Mindy...and his Oscar for outstanding performance in Good Will Hunting, the movie that also launched a great career for Matt Damon..
He was the star of a short lived tv comedy last season,The Crazy Ones, it was pretty bad and didn't last a full season..RIP Great Actor..

I love this scene from The Birdcage. It's not a great movie, but I remember that he played the (pardon the pun) straight man, while Nathan Lane played the neurotic, over-the-top comedic one. Except in this one moment where he cut loose and showed that nobody could over-the-top like Robin Williams.

ETA: good grief; I forgot the link:

His performance in Good Will Hunting is what really made that movie.

So sad when someone is so gifted in bringing feeling and happiness to others, yet struggles mightily to have those emotions themselves.

Depression, combined with addiction and alcoholism, can be even worse. Certainly not lifes greatest trifecta. Sadly, there are many people in this world experiencing the same pain and hell that Robin Williams was clearly living in. Always hate to see the permanent solution taken as a result.

Incredible talent. He will be missed. Gone way too soon. :(

A friend of mine who was an actor when he was younger posted this on his FB page:

"After the audition, in the elevator, is standing Robin Williams and myself. I look over and see him. I pause and look down. Not wanting to disturb him. I had just gone to a rally in support of the NEA (mid 1990's?) two days earlier and I turn to him and for some reason, start into a description of this NEA rally. How wonderful it is to see people do great things with there fame. Support other artists and institutions and then this amazing thing happened. He started asking me questions,,,Lot's of them...about myself and the rally....about issues, political climate, censorship. I remember he was very sincere and our conversation spilled out onto the street. He had a town car waiting and he seemed to want to keep talking as passers by smiled and pointed. Either he was the greatest actor in the world in that moment or he just genuinely enjoyed connecting with someone. My meeting lasted about 10 minutes, but I'll never forget the genuine and unpretentious way he treated me. RIP"

Actor, comedian, humanitarian, mind-bogglingly talented, with loving family and friends and adoring fans . . . How does such a person reach a point so low? I just can't wrap my mind around that depth of depression.

A fan since Mork and Mindy, for me the pinnacle of his dramatic acting career was his performance in Good Will Hunting. But his comedy, his improvisational skills, his comedic style were of the caliber that one is lucky to see in a lifetime.

This was very sad indeed......it has to be an unbeleivably and terrible situation when suicide becomes the only solution to ending the suffering. Rest in Peace Funny Man.......

A friend sent these to me, interviews offering insight into RW. I was a huge fan of his work, but the last two days have taught me that I knew relatively little about the man.

A statement issued from his wife.

"Robin's sobriety was intact and he was brave as he struggled with his own battles of depression, anxiety,as well as early stages of Parkinson's Disease, which he was not ready to share publicly.

It is our hope in the wake of Robin's tragic passing, that other's will find the strength to seek the care and support they need to treat whatever battles they are facing so that they may feel less afraid."

Yeah, I saw someone had the name "I Hate Robin Williams" and was steadily talking crap to her about her Dad and saying how happy he was that he was dead. It was just awful to see that only hours after the news broke.

What the hell is wrong with people?!

I don't blame her one bit and am just sorry she had to deal with all that.
