belmont

the rules seem to be off the charts strict
has the fun been sucked out of it?
was going to go rock the general admission seats but will it be viewable?

I have to do general admission this year as I couldn't get through on Ticketmaster. It's do-able (I was general admission for Smarty Jones' Belmont) but you have to be ready to start angling for a viewing spot a couple of hours before the race. Though my husband swore off ever attending Belmont in a TC year again after that Belmont (he hates crowds).

For Charismatic's Belmont I walked way up track almost to the turn and there was plenty of viewing, though, of course, I couldn't really see what happened at the end.

rules seemed about as bad as any other major event...what rules do ya think they are overstepping with, I might have just missed them

pucknut 05-28-2014 11:25 AM

the no alcohol and if im reading right the limited access to track areas
no coolers but beach bags
i just have to wrap my head around the fact that higher profile events mean fewer freedoms
and wait for saratoga to open

tanner12oz 05-28-2014 11:31 AM

same rules as the Preakness has been the past few years...horseracing was one of the final sporting events to allow the BYOB. booze still okay on Friday though correct? just Belmont say that its off limits if saw right

pucknut 05-28-2014 11:38 AM

exactly the non-belmont days are BYOB and coolers!
i guess i could tailgate
unless they impose the superbowl rule no eating or drinking except in the car

I think the masses of Philadelphians in '04 scared the bejeezus out of them.

maybe we should atart our own tailgate revolution
we can call it the Long Island Ice tea Party

tanner12oz 05-28-2014 01:33 PM

I don't think your allowed to tailgate either on Belmont day....sorry dude
