No reason for that what-so-ever. If I were rich, I would have a pasture full of horses like him.

helicopter11 05-22-2014 06:44 PM

There really should be an age limit on horses. People writing the condition books should keep that in mind.
12 years old is really asking too much of a racehorse to be competitive.

According to fb posts, he's retired and heading to Old Friends NY. :)

Just saw pics go up on FB. :) Poor horse earned a break a long time ago. I just hope nobody tries to give him a 2nd career as a polo pony. With a name like that, you'd never hear the end of the jokes.

Arletta 05-27-2014 08:35 PM

This is indeed fantastic news :tro:

but....it can't be greed when the purse is so small...can it? wouldn't it be cheaper not to keep the horse in training?
well..maybe not from the trainers point of view!

I see your point. I don't know... to me, when I first saw this, I thought oh okay they want to be paid to be rid of him.

Very happy he gets to go somewhere good now (and I wish the same for Workin' for Hops. He's not in the same boat as this guy but wow... a 5k claimer on Friday isn't exactly where I thought he'd end up). :(

Hate seeing them sink...

and it could be they were hoping to get a claim for him. i remember the horse a few years ago bought by a dt poster after he was hurt. they still wanted some dough, even tho they wanted rid of the horse.

She wasn't hurt, she ran worse than 4th so many times she couldn't race at Mountaineer Park anymore. Hoping something good happens for Workin For Hops after today's race.

i'm sorry, i'm not sure what you're talking about? edit--you guys rescued a horse, right?

the horse i'm talking about in regards to a dter getting wasn't a filly, wasn't at mountaineer. scavs helped out with the transaction, i think the horse was in the midwest. maybe he can clarify.
