Untapable Will Not Run in Preakness

Assmussen said the plan is to keep her around for a long time and a race in two weeks is not in her best interest toward that goal. They are not opposed to running her against the colts in the future; however.

That's disappointing. He ran Rachel Alexandra in the Preakness off of 15 days rest & it sure didn't ruin the rest of her 3yo year.

That probably was more of the owners decision.

Not only that but said owner didn't have much time left to live.

Would be awesome to see her in the annual beauty pageant called The Alabama Stakes

You are right.
I just meant that he has an example from his own barn where running a filly back in the Preakness wasn't ruinous. I wish he'd follow that example here.

Don't think they realized how close those are. I imagine she'll run in the Acorn, since the purse is enormous, then the CCA Oaks at Saratoga.

Untappable is Rachel Alexandra good, the Belmont?

She's not bred like Rags to Riches. I don't see them wanting to go 12 furlongs.

Plenty of spots to make money this summer, and they'll find a spot to take on the boys eventually.

I can't believe this is even an option in people's minds for this filly.

Assmussen never runs his good stock off 2 weeks, let alone 2 weeks against boys. And there is zero chance she runs in the Belmont.

She'd probably win the Preakness.

The only serious challenger left for California Chrome, Social Inclusion, was scratched with a bruised foot yesterday.

I dont think she is RA good. She is a nice filly though.

Calzone Lord 05-04-2014 08:18 PM

She doesn't have to be that good.

I don't doubt that one bit, matter fact, she probably wins by daylight, but Jess Jackson isn't the new owner of her, and Assmussen would never run them back that quick unless he 'had' to, which means him winning a Derby.

I know that, thats why I did not comment on the race.

I do think the winner of the Derby is pretty good, he is not Mine That Bird who was right there with RA.

RA was hooked early with Big Drama, an eventual wire-to-wire Breeders' Cup Sprint winner.

Mine That Bird also gave a good account of himself in both the Derby and Belmont -- he was in good form at the time of the Preakness, and got a nice setup.

Fillies are 11-2-1-0 in the Kentucky Derby since 1945. A great record for a race that usually has a huge field size. Not many try the Preakness and Belmont.

Her sex doesn't matter to me. If anything, it's an advantage, because she gets a weight break for it.
