Baffert confirms Hoppertunity SCR..

Hoppertunity SCR appears likely.

That stinks! Feel bad for Bob. He drew well, loved his work I thought he had a shot despite the curse!

Tough break

rpncaine 05-01-2014 08:16 AM

If Ward doesn't run Pablo does that mean Untappable is in?

Kasept 05-01-2014 08:17 AM

Ward not necessarily running Pablo Del Monte. Consulting with owner, but feels 20 berth may be too tough an assignment..

No. Too late for that. Would have to have been entered yesterday.

philcski 05-01-2014 08:45 AM

Social Inclusion should have entered.

booner 05-01-2014 08:47 AM

Hate to hear this. I thought he was ready to win. One of my top choices.

If Ward feels the 20 hole is too tough to overcome, why did they have him as an AE in the first place? Wouldn't they have known that would be their post position pre-draw?

theguarantee 05-01-2014 09:33 AM

^Maybe to appease owners and hope he didn't actually draw in?

No way. That would have been asking way to much. They are doing right by him. He proved he is a legit horse in the Wood. Assuming he is doing well he is a major threat in 16 days.

That is a possibility, but don't picture Pablo Del Monte's ownership group trying to get a Derby starter in from the AE list.

Are you referring to his lack of experience? I think he would have been fine.

Any chance Smith picks up another mount?

Please explain, I see jockey changes on horses all the time. Obviously I am missing something.

In theory he could pick up another mount but the owner would have to pay a double jock mount so if won he would owe 240,000 dollars, 120k to each jock

Barring any major changes or Derby performance I don't expect I will be betting him with both fists in the Preakness.

I'm not saying I like him, I just think this is the right move.
