I didn't catch the foal total, but I wouldn't be shocked if it came to that. It's relatively low compared to today obviously. Back then Sam Riddle made sure to send his own mares to MOW and in general didn't scramble too much to breed him to outside mares the way someone would now. I don't think he was used as a private stud exactly, but not far from it. 13 foals in his first crop and not from a lack of fertility. I was never a fan of how Riddle handled his stud career. It just shows how influential a sire he was to have a Triple Crown winner from that number of progeny, then there's his grandson Seabiscuit, and beyond the influences of his offspring on pedigrees today, he's got Tiznow carrying the banner for his sireline.
