1/17: Gulfstream (6th-10th)

Some of the obvious players scratched out of the late P4 sequence at Aqueduct Thursday, but things worked out nicely anyway as $17.80 Voodoo Tales keyed a very good afternoon. Vulnerable Pletch stretch fave Violet Hour was dueled into submission by Esquivel and Voodoo Tales and not only generated a $195 quad hit, but triggered a bulky $367 triple ($1) with 11-1 Hugh McMahon invader No Means No up for 2nd. No Means No hinted at being a great exotics candidate given the Laurel N1X regular was clearly in NY for a shot at the nice $53k starter ALW pot. With the solid purses available these days in Maryland, you had to think that McMahon wouldn't go to the trouble of coming to Queens without a viable runner. So, what at first looked like a problematic situation with the scratch of Royal Suspicion -- whom I really liked and was going to essentially single -- turned out to a fortuitous result. Hope everyone did well.

Gulfstream seemed liked the best candidate for Friday action, though Santa Anita ended up generating a $42k P6 carryover for later.. Big Weekend Preview ATR coming up with Hersh, Privman, Welsch, Tammaro, DeRosa, Hammerle and HRTV's Amy Zimmerman.

GULFSTREAM PARK

POST-SCRATCHES

6th: MCLM/$40k, F&M-4+, 1m-T/0' (P5, P3, DD)

It took forever to get Frere Pilgrim on the turf and when she did, she ran her career best. Will have to do it on front end again, but Rosario sticks and drop has to help. May have found right spot and it will be interesting to see if she gets claimed as the better bred half sister to GSW/G1PL Tamarind Hall (Graeme Hall)..

Most Likely: #3 Frere Pilgrim 3-1 4th
Best Value: #5 Dont Miss Crissy 8-1 5th
Next Best: #6 Hit Squad 6-1 6th
Exotics Use: #2 Bet On Kitten 4-1 3rd

7th: OC/N3X, 4+, 8.5f-T/60' (P4, P3, DD)

Best Value: #1 Sleepless Knight 5-1 5th
Next Best: #5 Bombaguia 5-2 2nd
Exotics Use: #2 Kalamos 3-1 3rd
Super Add: #7 English Progress 8-1 4th

8th: MSW, 3yo-F, 1m (P3, DD)

Hennig's Full of Sugar will have to negotiate the irksome one hole, but fact that Rosario lands here over Pletcher/Coolmore player Spring Blossom worth price of admission (ML 12-1)..

Best Value: #1 Full of Sugar 12-1 3rd
Next Best: #3 Lucky for You 3-1 2nd
Exotics Use: #12 House Rules 5-1 WON ($13.00)
Super Add: #11 Secret Someone 10-1 8th

9th: OC/S-ALW, F&M-4+, 7.5f-T/0' (DD)

Exotics Use: #5 Dance With Gio 12-1 8th

10th: MSW, F&M-4+, 5f-T/60' (Super Hi-5)

Feels like this has to collapse at least a bit with 6-7 involved on the front end..

Most Likely: #2 Street Trick 3-1 2nd
Best Value: #6 Zamquick 8-1 3rd
Next Best: #4 Braided 4-1 8th
Exotics Use: #11 So Royal 10-1 9th

Steve, I really like how you are doing your tickets now. It gives me a chance to look at horses I might have passed on. Again thanks.

My pleasure Dave.. As I've already said, I should have incorporated the multi-ticket structure in years ago. Response has been almost universally positive. BOL this weekend!

$88,508 Pick 5 C/O at Gulfstream into Sunshine Millions day. Also looks like there'll be a double Pick 6 C/O at Santa Anita tomorrow. Opportunities aplenty!

SA P6 covered with 1-7-8.. ATR listeners were ready for El Nino Terrible. C/O would be $341k.

That was a treacherous sequence at GP today. Even anticipating a collapse, I couldn't get to Warmhearted Windy. And Party Starter in the 6th?

Lots of action Saturday...

4-5 shot in the 7th narrowly getting up kept those four tickets alive. Runner-up would've guaranteed a C/O. Bummer.
