Pittsburgh Pirates Postseason Thread

Buctober...Pirates playoff baseball in October...really looking forward to this. Hopefully the bats can get to Cueto early tonight. PNC Blackout

Guess we'll see chump

I don't like this 1 game playoff deal. Don't think it is a fair way to go. Maybe best of 3 with all the games played at the higher ranked seeds home.

maybe Moreno can steal some bases....he's fast.

Duvalier 10-01-2013 08:54 AM

Agreed Rand. The one and done for the wild card doesn't make much sense after playing 162 or in the Rays case 163 games. Best of 3 would be the way to go.

Or Marte sans the oven mitten...

thinking back to Manny Sanguillen and his 40 oz bat. Rennie Stennet and Willie Stargell

Agreed. Adding a second wildcard team to play in a one game playoff is pretty stupid.

That being said, I would love to see the Bucs make some noise and have a deep run.

Give Cobb some credit here, he pitched a tremndous game last night.
The Caberera double play was huge.

Cleveland had the misfortune of playing a pathetically weak schedule to get there. They only needed to put out 70% effort to trounce the likes of Hou, CWS and Minn and simply were not sharp. The Rays have been playing elimination ball for almost a week and were much sharper for it.

Trotting out a rookie who started the year in AA to save your season spoke volumes about their pitching staff as well. IMO if they played even one remotely competitive team down the stretch the result could have been different, but they had no chance last night.
