Arc upset

Deep Impact finishes best of the 'Big THree', but he is only third (by a length or so). 3yo Rail Link and mare Pride run him down in the last yards. Without a race since June, could he have been a touch short? Same thing as Heart's Cry at Ascot - looked all over a winner only to flatten in the final yards.

In fairness to Deep Impact he was much closer to the pace than he prefers as the connections were obviously overly concerned with the lack of pace. I guess considering where Pride came from they were mistaken in their tactics.

Yeah, I was really shrieking for her to get up. Oh well.

Pedigree Ann 10-01-2006 11:08 AM

I wonder if the 'Big three' weren't paying too much attention to one another and not enough to the others in the race? It may be that Take had instructions to stay close to Hurricane Run, since that was the one they feared. Won the battle, lost the war. (That's how Jim Dandy won the Travers in 1930 - Gallant Fox and Whichone's jockeys were so concerned about watching each other, they didn't pay any attention to the longshot.)

Her coming in 2nd was my payment. :)

Thrilled.....

Glad you were rooting for her too, and that she showed the world (again!) how special she is.

Beautiful run by Rail Link.

wac 10-01-2006 11:29 AM

My miss even though im a guy i always root for the girls when they step up to challenge the boys i really have to give it too them for trying and it seems like she and oujia aren't afraid of the boys so good for them. what a race...

tycharles01 10-01-2006 11:30 AM

Damn, Check this out.

I go to the track to make some bets thinking a Deep Impact/Rail Link Ex
So put down 50 Ex on that and was going to throw down 200 win on Deep Impact but changed my mind when I see him at 1/5. so put down some tri bets(none with Pride). Right as I leave I put down a small 10 Place bet on Rail Link

STUPID ME!!! Never thought in million years he would be all of the Big three

I hate horse racing:D

wac 10-01-2006 11:35 AM

tycharles that does suck man sorry to hear that what made you put rail link in your bets? i didnt even look at him till the guys on tvg were talking about him.
