should we pay for egypt still

the law says after a change of leadership or a coup..funding should be stopped..1billion plus.the Obama administration is slow to call what just happened a coup..im thinking this money could be used better somewhere else..thoughts..

This was an aftershock from a anti-muslim film trailer, not a coup. ;)

The President says we don't support any individual group. All I ask is who have we been sending the billions to?

Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood or the military who basically facilitated the coup.

Doesn't matter who we vocally support, who's getting the greenbacks?

joeydb 07-09-2013 04:28 PM

Depends on whether you still want the Suez Canal open. There would be a hell of a spike in the price of a lot of global shipping if that's closed, with the costs passed on (as they always are) to us consumers.

Plus most of the money we give to the military goes to buy US weapons. So let's punish our suppliers and let them buy from the Russians cause you know they will just move their business elsewhere.

Where do you suppose they'll get the money to buy Russian weapons?
You know if we cut them off?

Much more likely they'd turn to China than Russia anyway. Besides the average Egyptian favors China at 3-1 over the U.S.

Gotta keep feeding the war machine:rolleyes: Trillions of dollars for the big wigs and those in our government that are investors or future employees. We will keep doing it until someone eventually gets serious and starts lobbing nukes which of course will be met with retaliation and the end of the game. Makes me glad that I am at the half mile pole.

rpncaine 07-11-2013 06:36 AM

So true....I would have to say I think I'm at the quarter pole myself.
I don't think "lobbing" is what will happen. One of these crazy fanatics out there will get ahold of a nuke and set it off in NYC or some other major city and all hell will break loose.

All in the name of some *&^%$ deity.

dellinger63 07-11-2013 09:11 AM

One side wants sharia law that gives women the same rights as a stray dog, the other side wants a more secular nation and shows it by throwing small children off buildings and mowing down protesters.

Who are we going to buddy up with, the rabid dog or the rabid skunk?

I've said before the only likely way Egypt and other socially-retarded countries like it will ever change is by empowering their women. How we do it in countries where men kill their daughters and wives out of some false sense of honor is the great mystery.

If God forbid that did happen to New York, odds are good that our current president would apologize to the rest of the world for it somehow being our fault.

Or he will make it look like a locust storm by filling the skies with drones and rain bombs. Of course you will complain about that too because that's what sheep do. They parrot what ever their party deity du jour tells them to. Funny you can even use a computer being stuck in the 60's like you are.

I'm confused. I thought we were talking about Egypt, not Texas.

In Egypt an abortion is done by simply killing the pregnant mother. No 20 week time limit, hospital admitting privileges, or even the mothers consent needed. Hey sometimes no pregnancy is even needed. But what a great comparison to enlighten everyone to just how FUBAR'd Egypt and countries like it are. They make Texas look good!

i won't attempt a translation...i think he's trying to say that as bad as things may be here, it could be worse. that's my best guess. you mentioned texas, i think he's just trying to remind you even tho women get tampons and sanitary napkins confiscated, at least the state troopers aren't killing them. helps keep our own rights being trampled in the right light.
so, GR, try to be more grateful.

^^^^ Head in the Sand

Troopers aren't trying to kill little girls for going to school either.

We live in country where our poor are obese.

Being grateful should be a given.

wait til zimmerman verdict in florida!

Hey steve how much rioting you think will be happening after zimmerman is found not guilty. They are already bracing for it. Reminds me of the book the bonfire of the vanities! Gonna be sad if the race card is used after a jury of his peers (all women) find him not guilty! :)

There will be no violence. The media is racist by thinking this way.
