Indiana Downs
Is anyone else following this track? I'm finding the racing great. Big fields, lots of prices and a really nice turf course that they use plenty. Lots of good trainers and the jockey colony is credible for the most part.
I don't know where to go for good insights (other than the Form), which everyone is looking at. |
It's my home track so yeah I'm following it pretty close. Big improvement this year due to the TBreds being full time now. The turf racing is great too. I expect things to continue to improve as the year goes on. CD is in real trouble with IND and Ellis attracting a lot of trainers and the big field are great.
If you are on twitter I can point you to some people who can give some insights. I'm at @GoColts59. The track announcer and the color girl (who BTW is a real looker and a very nice person) are pretty decent cappers themselves. They are also very active on twitter. |
Thanks for the info. What are their twitter addresses?

Yes, I like it. I also like the turf racing at Lone Star and (God help me) Canterbury. I've made a few bucks playing around with these.
I'd tossing in Colonial, too, but too many turf sprints (not my strong suit). |

Not really going for a shameless plug, but Horse Player NOW is also providing selections daily for the meet on their website. Myself and a couple other guys on our team are handling those, and they're free and easy to get to, even if you just need to check them out to see who I like so you can toss them from your Pick-4 :)
ETA: My link doesn't work for some reason. It's under Racing 101 -> Handicapping on www.indianadowns.com |
Good to know Brian. I've been on them about improving their website but nothing yet. I had no idea there were picks posted anywhere! Spoke to the GM about those stakes two Saturdays ago (night that Jon White was there) and the hope that they could get graded for next year. He mentioned that the consolidation of TB's has brought more resources to them. They are building new barns and one of the owners who works with me mentioned how much better shape the track is in now. I think good things are happening now and its really exciting for those of us who remember what a backwater it used to be.

We got a great QB to build on and this is going to be an exciting year. RB, O-line and defensive help came in and I think the Pagano/Grigson combo is really gonna be productive.
Houston better bring it or we'll take back the AFC South! |
BH reporting that Larry Jones will not run horses at Ellis Park but will run at tracks in IN AND IL. Great news for AP and Indiana Downs!
|
If told me 5 years ago that indiana downs would have the quality of racing it does now, I would have committed you. Like Caine, this is my home track and they made fantastic strides in the whole complex.

Appox. 10 % increase in purses @Indiana_Downs starting July 8.

Check out the 4th and 6th on the turf at IND on Wednesday night. Some serious fields in those races with lots of good trainers coming in.
