Hollywood night racing?
Hollywood opens up this week, but unfortunately according to the racing calendar on their site, all Friday post-times are normal 1:00 (PST) starts. Is this correct, did they do away with the Friday night cards? And if so, does anyone know why?

flat handle. some loss of simulcast market with the late east coast close. i'll miss it because the only time i've gone to hollywood park in the last few years was when a band played that i wanted to see. |
Shame....It was a nice change from the usual afternoon cards. The crowd was much more fun.

What a bummer, I loved Friday nights under the lights and playing good races to 2 a.m. They will lose my handle on Fridays with afternoon racing.
Looks like they are really trying to wrap things up over there, the land value must be going back up. |

yeah, they've been saying for months now that this is it for hollywood. it's too bad. the only question now seems to be how to fill the void.

What is Betfairs connection with Hollywood park? TVG personalities don't blink more than they mention "BETFAIR Hollywood Park"

Thanks for the info guys.
Just a shame, those Friday night cards were my favorite. Everyone in the house went to sleep, I would get a cold drink, sit down with the Friday Night DT crew and watch races till about 2 in the morning. So much for that. :( |
They could have least tried a few 4:00 pacific posts.

Inglewood being one of the worst places in California lost one of the most iconic race tracks to developers. What is preventing Santa Anita and Del Mar having the same fate with them being in two of the most expensive locations in California? I could imagine Santa Anita and Del Mar land value being several times more than Hollywood Park.

santa anita is privately held and although you never know what the owner may determine is the best use for the land, stronach hasn't made any noises about developing anything more than a portion of the parking lot. and that fell through. btw: there are parts of the san fernando valley that are rougher than the area from the 405 to hollywood park. inglewood tracks marginally higher than the state average on crime rates. west hollywood, stockton, and barstow are just 3 examples of areas that rank higher. it's not malibu but it's hardly the "worst place". |

Forget July 5th, looks like they are having trouble scraping together a card for Sunday.
