That was wild.

cmorioles 04-13-2013 07:57 PM

Horse got a -27 on TG.

rpncaine 04-13-2013 08:30 PM

Did you see the head on? He went AROUND the starting gate!

justindew 04-13-2013 08:32 PM

This came remarkably close to resulting in a ban on starting gates. That jockey is lucky to be alive.

pweizer 04-13-2013 08:42 PM

Wow, how much the best was that horse. Amazing.

Whoa. This is certainly a race where you need to see a replay rather than just look at the chart. If I just looked at the chart, I don't think I'd be able to wrap my mind around "raced between the parked starting gate and the outside rail in midstretch."

Danzig 04-13-2013 08:50 PM

unbelievable.

gives new meaning to 'erratic stretch run'

Not to be a kill joy ... but this was an incredibly slow race.

Earlier on in the card, a 3-year-old filly won an 8K maiden claiming race at the same distance in 1:50.30

This was a 20-to-25K MCL for males rained off the turf. The final time of 1:52.16 was 10 lengths slower than it took the bottom level maiden girls to go the distance.

Even if the horse with the dramatic troubled trip had 10 lengths worth of trouble, which I think he probably did, that's only good enough to put him in a photo finish with bottom level fillies.

Obviously, this is a stern test to the "there are no trips in slow races" rule ... but the right thing to do is bet against everything but the 2nd place finisher. And honestly, the way this race is being shown all over the Internet, I'd definitely want to bet against the 2nd place finisher the next time he runs as well.

Of course it was a slow race, a horse that stopped and started twice got nosed. He did, however, have way more than 10 lengths of trouble.

The chart caller from Delta would have somehow missed it!

Way to ride without stirrups too!

In Hollywood

if this was a Hollywood movie he would have got up last jump. I was rooting for him.

I had a baby who was turf bred , trying the turf, MSW with Henry Ma aboard. We're leading the full field inside the 1/16 th pole at 30-1 (opened 9/5 off a 20-1 ML ) He reaches back and hits her righty and goes from the 3 path, to being upside down on top of the rail literally sliding on her back halfway to the wire. Didn't get injured, but plenty of white paint from the rail on her back. Hong Kong Henry Ma was also unscathed. Haary Vega won the race on some 40-1 shot that was 2 for 2 on the mare trying turf also. It's crazy when it's your hoss. I wonder what the owner of that guy was thinking,

Pimlico needs Trackus.

Ocala Mike 04-14-2013 01:13 PM

DRF trouble line - "wide stretch."

helicopter11 04-14-2013 07:02 PM

I thought the most funny aspect was the winning trainers name:
Small, Richard W

Was Detorri or on him or was that Derosmeaux on a bender?
