Jonathan Winters RIP

One of my all time fav comedians..Dies at 87...Know Olddog and Ocala Mike remember this guy..
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, one of his movies with a host of funny comedians..love it.

Appeared on The Hollywood Squares and made many very memorable appearances on both The Dean Martin Show and The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast.

In addition, he would often appear on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, usually in the guise of some character.also appeared in a host of tv shows..

Jonathan Winters RIP

RIP to one of the greatest. His Maude Frickert character was classic. The guy had many clones among famous comedians (Robin Williams basically a knockoff).

No doubt about it, he is one of the greats of at least my time.

Robin Williams' (terrific) NYT appreciation to his idol and then mentor..

Winters was one of my all time favorites. Does anyone remember his insane, inspired work -- all apparently unscripted -- in a series called 'Davis Rules'? He played Randy Quaid's father Gunny? He would wander into scenes with manic riffs that were hysterical. RIP.

From the article -

>>>Jonathan’s improvs on “Mork & Mindy” were legendary. People on the Paramount lot would pack the soundstage on the nights we filmed him. He once did a World War I parody in which he portrayed upper-class English generals, Cockney infantrymen, a Scottish sergeant no one could understand and a Zulu who was in the wrong war. The bit went on so long that all three cameras ran out of film. Sometimes I would join in, but I felt like a kazoo player sitting in with Coltrane. <<<

High praise indeed. One of the all time greats. RIP
