Haskin: The Unlikely Story of Vyjack

Neat little tale of the connections behind him and the decision that led to him being gelded. I thought his run on Saturday was very exciting visually.

Nice story.....sometime all the plans we have come true by accident. Had to like the way he was able to relax and come charging down the stretch. When I looked at the race I was sure he would be near the lead and when he wasn't I thought he was done.....that's horse racing

There were about 7 speeds in the Gotham. It was a smart ride by Rosario to take him back.

Siete De Oros, who improved a lot in blinkers a few starts ago, would have benefited a lot from that same ride. Instead he was rushed early by Cornilo, bumped and in tight. He was going very well late. Angel Arroyo would have taken him back, but he went on vacation in Panama and had VISA issues.

I read the whole thing and it was interesting...although isn't every Haskin article some type of "unlikely" or "impossible" story though? :)

I like Vyjack. I think he is better than his Beyer indicates, and even if the pace did fall apart in the Gotham, isn't a stalking trip what is needed in the Kentucky Derby anyway?

8th by 7 1/2 at the 3/4 isnt a stalking trip. He looked well out of it and I thought he wasnt firing. I was wrong which has been par for the course the last month.

Kind of makes it exciting that we have the 2 year old half sister to
Vyjack in the barn by Bernstein.
