Won by 9 yesterday, but I have a question, why would you continue to vigirously ride if you're already winning by 4?

Maybe hes one of those horses that just quit when they want, or waits on others.

Sightseek I saw that race and see no reason to criticize a jockey who rides his mount out to the wire.
The "Pat Day syndrome" has cost so many players so much money over the last ten years that its not even funny. I've seen hundreds of incidents where the jock stops riding or tries to measure his win and gets nailed.
One incident earlier this year sent me into a fit of rage. It was the Frankel NY bred turf filly who won at the Spa this year, Symphony of Psalms. Earlier this year in her NY debut Cornelio Velasquez, as he does too often, made the lead turning for home and did that cutesy take a hold and not ride deal he does too often. By the time he realized nearing the 1/16th pole that Square Dancing was coming at him with a head of steam, and he started riding and whipping, it was too late. The other horse had a full head of steam.
Its inexcusable for jockeys to not ride out their mounts. Its not their job to train the horse for the trainer and measure wins. Its their job to get the most out of their mount and win the race.
I'd much rather see a rider do what Cruz did on this horse yesterday than to see one pulling the cutesy routine and get nailed. The first is not a transgression, the second one is.

He had been pointed all over the place with Triple Crown dreams so maybe it was to get a fighting spirit in him? Just seemed to me they would save a little for down the road.

I wasn't criticizing, but was more inquiring if the horse has something to gain from it. I can see your point of preference though. :)
