Odd

Was everyone aware the artificial surface at Hollywood is different from the Ky tracks? A3rd and forth company are courting Magna for there bussiness . The farther we go the more surfaces we see. We all know all synthetic surfaces are all different. Remember Remingtons try at the fake stuff 15-20 yrs ago.

Calder opened in the early 70s with a sort of artificial surface as well. It was made by 3M, McKnight's company, and it was supposed to keep the track from getting muddy in the frequent So. FLorida rains. Took it out after a few years. It has taken a while to get this technology to an acceptable level.

All tracks would benefit from having a surface like calder. They do a great job there

Im sure Wal-mart will start selling it. A bargin. You can install it yourself. Such good PR on this "synthetic" stuff. Before long it will cure the common cold. Some people are going to make TONS of $$$$$$$$$ on something that will not be what we are led to think it is. When will everyone come to there senses and understand the surface is just one part of the problem. Sub-surface and the base for the surface are the keys. Just think about the artifical surfaced Athletic fields. They were an accident looking for a place to happen until they started develoing a cushion and installing a propper base.

You have all the answers. Who do you like in the fourth at Kentucky Downs?

They ran 1:08 and change at Turfway on Saturday on Poly, I wonder if the adjustements that they have made, have made it too fast...

For what it's worth, this is what horseman are saying about the new track at Hollywood. The horses are coming back blowing and you know that they got something out of the work. The Horses are not showing any filling or heat in their joints and tendons. Jeff Mullins liked what he saw so much that he moved his whole barn to Hollywood Park.
When horses train at Santa Anita they can bounce over the top of the surface and it's difficult to get a good workout, that's why some trainers will use the inner training track which is deeper.
