I guess political correctness trumps all measures of merit. If they were all female chairs, no one would say a word.

Great thread title. :tro:

This is random but it reminded me of my favorite line in Rudolph where the narrator says that even though they were sad due to the loss of their friend they decided "the best thing to do was to get the women back to Christmas town". :D

That line always sticks out to me, too. Don't get me wrong; I love Rudolph, and the Bumble adorns the top of our Christmas tree, but yeah... oh, the 1960's (cue theme to Mad Men).

It really shouldn't matter how many of (pick whatever group - race, sex, etc) is chairing. They are all individuals after all - but, I will note that whomever has a given position seems to have it in perpetuity - sometimes for decades. That's strange to say the least for any republic having a legislative body.

It also would seem to go against the original intent of the Constitution.

Calling this out because without that perpetual occupation of chairmanships, there would naturally be turnover, and people of all backgrounds would get a better shot.

it should when the number is zero. and it goes hand in hand with the committee holding their hearing a few months back about birth control, but not one woman was called to testify.
women are half the population. you wouldn't know that by looking at govt tho.
