Dynasty Done

Pats looked horrific last night to a mediocre Bronco team
Branch was more valuable than they thought
next dynasty waiting to happen is in Ohio
those Bengals look like Super Bowl material

I agree on both counts. Pats showed a little something last week, a little. They showed nothing last night and the look on Brady's face told the tale.

Putting aside my team, Colts, I will point blank tell you that the best team in the AFC no question is the Bengals. Living where I do (Columbus) I get to see every one of their games (thank god for the NFL Ticket so I can watch the Colts every week). Let me tell you, that game yesterday was one of the hardest hitting games I have ever watched. The Bengals are great on all fronts, Offense and Defense. Their Special Teams is great. The key to yesterdays game - they won the way they did in essence without Chad Johnson. Now, to be fair, if Ben R was 100%, which he obviously is not still, would it have played out different? Honestly I don't think it would have made that much of a difference.

By the way the Colts beat one of the best teams in the AFC yesterday, a darn strong Jaguar team:D

The whopping that Seattle put on the Giants in the first half was ugly - but props to the Giants for not giving up and playing good ball in the second half.

I was torn too because Tampa Bay kept fighting and fighting till the end, lost to Carolina in a nail bighter but it was fun to watch.

The 1 o'clock games yesterday were fantastic.

Odell Thurman got a DUI last night and Chris Henry was in the car with him, they do something positive and then a negative....

Pointg5 09-25-2006 09:30 AM

Chad Johnson still had a huge impact on the game, they double team him and Houshyourmomma and Henry make you pay, honestly those two could probably be 1 receivers on most teams...It was an ugly game, but the Bengals won, that's all that is important...It's funny you mention Dynasty and the Bengals, I was reading the Football Scientist before the beginning of the Season and he had a whole section devoted to how he believes the Bengals are going to be the next Patriots...It's possible, they are young and all of their impact players are signed long term...

LOL are you serious? They'll be like the Cowboy dynasty
always in trouble with Johnny Law
Colts are great too 2min, don't get me wrong
if they meet for the AFC, should be a classic

Dead serious...He tried to jump the line in a DUI checkpoint...Guy's got serious problems...These guys can flat out play, but are wild....

The Bengals and Colts matchup on a MNF game in December, should be a good one...I don't know if they can stop the Colts, but it'll be a fun game to watch...

Pg - your Bengals are bad this year, are flat out bad (you know what I mean)
best team in the AFC in my opinion

Pointg5 09-25-2006 09:57 AM

No, I didn't hear about no more Who Dey?

I didn't see it, but it doesn't surprise me, Marvin is a great coach, just needs to reign in some bad seeds...

I'm not a hater. I'm not trying to rain on anyones parade. But I have to mention that I watched a different game than the one you folks did.

The Bengals were handed a game by an out of sync Pittsburgh "O" that repeatedly turned the ball over. Cincinnati's defense looked good but isn't even the best in their division (see Baltimore). Palmer alternated between brilliant and awful. How is this a formula for an AFC champ?

Three games in would be an early call for a team not demonstrating the problems Cincinnati has. I doubt they get past Baltimore when they play. And Indy? Are you kidding me?

Sigh....congrats to your guys Pgiven (mwind), Bucket, etc. Was a great game, but you guys came out on top. Still cant believe Cowher had Colclough back for that punt - dude muffed 3 pregame and was a mess all preseason especially having drafted a guy in the 3rd round whose sole reason for playing football is to return punts!!! I thought our D played really well, but you guys just got too many weapons for C. Palm. with Johnson, Houschawhatshisname, and Henry. Roethlisberger still looks like a headcase and still isnt 100% mentally it seems. Both teams seem very close talent wise and I look forward to many great battles in the coming years!

It was an ugly game, but the Bengals made plays to win, that's what good teams do...Baltimore's D is good, but their O is still not much better, they should put up way more points on the Browns...The Ravens will not be a problem, two years ago Palmer put up 24 points on them in the 4th quarter and their D is pretty much the same, just a little older...They have not beat a team that has won one game...While the Bengals have gone on the road twice to beat one okay team and the Super Bowl Champs...Believe me Baltimore will be exposed....

Right now, it looks like a two horse race...Bengals and Colts! Bengals have a huge advantage in the running game, Colts a slight advantage on the defensive side, both have great receivers. I think it will come down to Manning vs Palmer...play 10 games and it could end up 5-5! The Ravens are the unknown factor...that defense is the same but when not forced to play 3/4 of every game, they look a lot more impressive! McNair is still adjusting, he has great receivers (Mason is simply as solid as they come) and a solid and deep running game...they were lucky yesterday (I saw the whole game) but they trust McNair and that's such a big deal for a team that had quarterbacks who should have been in semi-pro ball since Trent...if McNair settles in and they stay injury-free, look for vast improvement in the second half of the season and a solid playoff run!

The Broncos sure have a defense this year. They've allowed one touchdown in 3 games. Thats not easy to do no matter who you are playing. Too bad they don't have an offense to match it.
Pats just don't have the skill players on offense.
Bengals are a hell of a team. So is San Diego.
But the Colts appear to be a very good team defensively and of course Peyton is Peyton. Colts appear to have some young guys on Offense who may get better as the year goes on. I like the Colts to get it done this year.

Scav 09-25-2006 12:32 PM

Colts are not going to get it done this year either, they have absolutley no running game, and you need that, especially in the playoffs.

Bears/Bengals-Jacksonville Superbowl.....

The colts needed to get it done last year and they didnt. Defensively, it will hinge on corey simon. If he comes back and plays to the level he played at last year then they have a decent shot. If not, they are small and porous and ripe to be manhandled by the more physical teams in the league. Offensively, they will be fine although Peyton isnt the best under fire.

The broncos offense will be fine as well. Javon Walker was a steal and tatum bell is starting to show what he can do.

Cincinnatti looks really tough as does baltimore. Those four teams are my main contenders.

Being an avid Broncos fan, it makes me happy to hear you say that!

Which is comforting, because Smith just ain't what he used to be. The repeated concussions are beginnging to worry me.

All I know is now is the time to beat the Ravens...that game yesterday, they kicked a late FG for the come from behind win...it was 52 yards and everyone assumed they would make it! Stover is a great kicker and a wonderful weapon to have! McNair will become more and more confident as the year goes on...he's never had such weapons! If the "O" line can protect him...they will be a very very tough out at playoff time!
