Changes in Breeders Cup Lineup?

I received a survey from the Breeder's Cup Board of Directors today (which I assume went to players who hjave played in the past Breeders Cup Betting Challenge Contests). In it, they appear to be considering shuffling the line up for the races. Here are the first three questions:

1. Will the rule prohibiting Lasix use in two-year olds impact your wagering at this year’s Championships?
a. YES
b. NO
COMMENT:

2. Are you satisfied with the current Friday/Saturday split of Championships races?
a. YES
b. NO
COMMENT:

3. Would you support an all two-year old raceday on Friday (5-6 Championships races), with the races for older horses all being on Saturday?
a. YES
b. NO
COMMENT:

i would prefer they cut the card back, and put that purse money into the classic. you want to lure the best, make it worth their while.

i don't suppose they ask about that tho, do they?

My two cents.

1. Will the rule prohibiting Lasix use in two-year olds impact your wagering at this year’s Championships?
a. YES
b. NO
COMMENT: I'm not playing any races where horses will be forced to come off Lasix.

2. Are you satisfied with the current Friday/Saturday split of Championships races?
a. YES
b. NO
COMMENT:Although I like the one day format better, I really don't have a huge issue with the current system.

3. Would you support an all two-year old raceday on Friday (5-6 Championships races), with the races for older horses all being on Saturday?
a. YES
b. NO
COMMENT:Yes, because it would make it a one day event for me again. Not betting the 2 year old races anyway due to the Lasix issue, so it would be nice to have them all together on the Friday and I could just concentrate on Saturday.

1. YES
2. NO, see previous threads regarding the addition of the Dirt Mile, etc....
3. YES, then I would only have to concentrate on Saturday.

This would be handle suicide. Currently we have to navigate 1 2yo race per Pick 4 sequence. If they grouped all them together in one day it will be a no brainer to sit out the entire day. I throughly enjoy playing both days but won't play an all 2 year old day.

Calzone Lord 07-23-2012 10:12 AM

1. No. I assume there's a more expensive alternative to lasix if a horse needs it. You spare no expense in the Breeders Cup.

2. Yes. Too many races have been added for a one day event.

3. I would prefer all the newly added races (including the F and M Turf) on Friday and leave the original BC races on Saturday.

An all 2YO day sounds hopelessly idiotic. That makes it likely.

:tro:Exactly it defies logic that someone would even consider such an idea?

1. Will the rule prohibiting Lasix use in two-year olds impact your wagering at this year’s Championships?
a. YES--YES
b. NO
COMMENT: it will impact it only with the Europeans who run in those races

2. Are you satisfied with the current Friday/Saturday split of Championships races?
a. Yes-YES
b. NO
COMMENT: Although I would rather have all races on one day if possible, but I have no problem with the way it currently is

3. Would you support an all two-year old raceday on Friday (5-6 Championships races), with the races for older horses all being on Saturday?
a. YES--YES
b. NO
COMMENT: My only concern that the lack of star power on a race day might affect the wagering for that day especially with 2 year olds, a big draw might needed on both days to keep interest and wagering up

Might be wrong, but think this is how the Brits did it with their first championship meets this past year. 2YOs ran at Newmarket before the older all ran at Ascot. I think part of that arrangement was a swapping of races between the two courses to make up the cards.

I'm sure they can figure out a few more races for 2yos.

Maybe a race open to both sexes and the males give 5 lbs. On top of that, the male horses must be ridden by female jocks, and the fillies must be ridden by male jocks.

COMMENT: None.

2. Are you satisfied with the current Friday/Saturday split of Championships races?
a. YES
b. NO
COMMENT: Need to stop with the "Filly Friday" nonsense. The Marathon and Dirt Mile need to go, the former is a joke of a race and the latter takes away horses from the Sprint & Classic.

3. Would you support an all two-year old raceday on Friday (5-6 Championships races), with the races for older horses all being on Saturday?
a. YES
b. NO
COMMENT: Less interested to bet if day has slew of favorites with very little form against horses that has suspect.

wild barry 07-23-2012 09:09 PM

I don't mind the two day set up. They could tweek alittle and that would be fine. If Friday was strictly a two year old racing day I would bet alot less money. I do enjoy during the Churchill fall met the two days of all juvy racing. Usually the first and last day of the fall meet.

While the Breeders' Cup hasn't turned the switch on yet regarding an all 2yo card, they have decided that the Filly & Mare Sprint and Marathon will switch dates this year. (per BC HIG)
