... and I'm gonna name him Fluffy and get him a poofy bed and toys and, and...

I just figured I should ask you guys if anyone else wants to join me. :)

I had already done similar "adoptions".. tigers and polar bears - so figured it was time for this handsome guy.

Awwww maybe next time he'll be smiling!

Think about it! Many to choose from and such a good cause...

http://www.worldwildlife.org/gift-ce...c=AWY1200WC913

Lonesome George died and for anyone who doesn't know he was the last remaining member of his subspecies, the Pinta Island tortoise(s).

He was around 100 years old and that's it... he was the last.

Sad, isn't it?

I'm sure no one here wants to be old and tell their grandchildren about the beautiful creatures that used to exist like elephants and tigers.

90 percent of rhinos have been wiped out in the last 30 years. There had been over 30 species. Now there are 5.

It's sick.

I'm not meaning to be preachy or anything like that. It's just that I know you guys are very generous people.

There are so many horrible things in this world and places that need our help... I swear to God I think Morrissey is the only celebrity type who tries to bring awareness to the situation at the Surabaya Zoo in Indonesia (google it but have tissues nearby. It is so disturbing).

So many charities for all kinds of animals who are abused or near extinction and it's hard to know which is which but Fluffy and I urge you to help someone or some animal somewhere and make a difference even on a very small scale.

We already lost one species this year. It would be a shame to look back ten years from now and wonder why we sat on our asses while looking at a listing of the latest extinctions.

Assorted stuff (PLEASE feel free to add anything)...

This was George...

On the baby Panda who just died in Japan...

Tigers (around 3200 left)...

Elephant poaching...

Earlier this year half the population of the Bouba N’Djida's elephants were killed by poachers. (It's a national park in Camaroon).

I'm still mourning for common sense.

Okay I'll change it.

New title - extinction

Post - So whatdya think anyone want to talk about it?

There's a thread in a parallel universe titled A Little Humor.

It makes me want to slit my wrists.

I will try to be more like that.:wf

I have adopted a spider. His name is Lucky. He makes his web in the corner of my bedroom bath/wall. I have been very nice to him for a month now by not squishing him. But he is getting bigger every day, and I fear for his life. The end.

I wasn't commenting on your post at all MMSC! Sorry.

Just lamenting how freaking stupid people are, especially those that seemingly want to interact with me in the real world.

If it's getting bigger, it means it's eating things in your room that are probably more annoying than the spider. I never kill spiders. Anything that eats flies, gnats, mosquitoes, etc, is a friend of mine.

Heck, in California, I used to catch little bugs and throw them to the black widows I had in my yard.

Yea, spiders dont bother me. I have also seen a couple of geckos here and there, they are useful as well. Eventually, all these critters fall prey to the pesticides I put down.

That will eventually include you.

Nasty stuff, those pesticides.
