Makes a lot of sense.

He didn't have a very good look as a stallion prospect here.

Kasept 06-22-2012 01:33 PM

But there's no interest or market in American horses Internationally according to the anti-Lasix crowd..

OldDog 06-22-2012 01:36 PM

Paralleling Charismatic's journey.

Kasept 06-22-2012 01:36 PM

On a similar topic, Big Brown had his first starter go and was a winner. And it came in Russia.

But there's no interest or market in American horses Internationally according to the anti-Lasix crowd..

Coach Pants 06-22-2012 01:42 PM

Did you see that Fappiano baby at Ascot today? That was shirley a fluke.

Calzone Lord 06-22-2012 01:50 PM

I don't see the connection between I'll Have Another being worth more in Japan than here because of a different value system we have with stallion prospects and a $15,000 Keeneland yearling winning a race in Russia ... with any of the lasix arguments.

Rudeboyelvis 06-22-2012 01:55 PM

He had better hope he doesn't shoot blanks

Like most arguments in favor of Lasix, it's ludicrous. Silly.

I just don't see the connection at all.

A lot of arguments against lasix are extremely silly. A lot of arguments for lasix are extremely silly.

Most arguments are extremely silly, period.

The pro lasix ones are ridiculous.

And there is no connection. I think Mr. Host was just being clever!

Calzone Lord 06-22-2012 02:26 PM

Maybe some of the anti-lasix people said that anytime a horse receives an injection of lasix -- the lasix shot makes them tainted and ineffective as breeding material to all International breeders?

I wouldn't be surprised if someone said it somewhere -- I just haven't seen it argued by anyone around here.

I don't read Joe Drape's blog though. Sounds like it could be something he's capable of saying.

Making a generic point against the drumbeats that claim American bloodstock is a scourge in the International marketplace.

Link?

I'm certainly not saying that such drumbeats don't exist. I'm just not reading about them on here or elsewhere.

I could gather them up here and there. It's out there, believe me. Regularly hear/read that rationale included as a matter of absolute fact. The realities of changes in the market, surface specific demands of Intl racing, wider development of Intl stallion/broodmare rosters, etc., never mentioned... Just that we now breed inferior, stamina-absent, drug-addled horses that no one wants in the rest of the world.

Who said that?

Northern Dancer blood is still quite prevalent, as is Mr. Prospector.

Calzone Lord 06-22-2012 03:03 PM

It will be interesting to see if I'll Have Another can make it in Japan.

I wouldn't be surprised if his final destination ends up being Korea or Turkey. There's just nothing about him that looks like good stallion material to me.

Plenty of numb nutz, believe me.. Chuck will support me on this point. We've discussed this and I think he's even addressed the topic on air with me.
