Track Maintenance

Do tracks have their maintenance schedule readily available or is it something you can call and request, esp. to when they water turf courses? At my home track the turf course usually plays a little to speed or close to the pace horses. Yesterday, everything was going back and very little speed stayed on. Cheaper horses were coming out of the stratosphere to win. There had been no heavy rain between the last time I played and the course was still listed as firm. It was hotter and a lot more humid yesterday, but the only other factor I can come up with to make that big of a change was that they could have heavily watered the course recently. Thanks!

the only track I have seen that lists this online is Keeneland

Quote:

The Gallop Master will be used once after training with the tines set at 4, and once with the tines set at 3.5 inches. It will be used again after races 1, 2, 4, 5, and 7 with the tines set at 3.5 inches.

The grass height is 5.5 inches and the rail is down.

I've seen tracks play the maintenance in their track feed crawl during race day "track will be harrowed to 2" after races 3, 5, 7 ... " type of thing.

Kinda like when they announce all those shoe changes, overweights, up front early in the day when you are busy doing other stuff, and can't pay attention, too :D

If you can't find out they watered the turf overnight with 1" of water, you're left watching the early races. I agree, helpful to know. Best bet that first hour of announcements.
