Atlantic City: Handicapping contest @ Borgata on 7/7

Just got a post card in the mail from them yesterday, announcing another tournament. At least $10,000 in total prize money, more if they get a higher attendance.

$75 entry fee, $100 live bankroll, 10 races @ $10 - no more, no less. Not $10 minimum - $10 flat bet.

Their last one was a great time on St. Patty's day, and since they exceeded the number of people they needed (133), they raised the prize money. The winner last time took home over $7200.

You have to sign up in person I believe, that's the way it was last time. I don't know if there are laws preventing the casinos from taking a credit card payment even though it would technically be for a entry fee and not a wager per se.

Anyway, it's a good tournament for anybody in the Philly, NJ, or NYC region.

Oh - one more thing - this time around they post that people who play in two or more of these Borgata contests have a chance for an entry to the Horseplayer World Series in February.

That implies a random process (drawing?), or if other than that, they need to reveal how any scoring would drive the winner of that entry.

The winner last time took home over $7200.

Do you happen to remember what the winning score was last time?

I think so. Didn't see anyone on the phone, but I was able to use a smartphone to get to equibase and check the scratch status of the runners.

You can bring a computer too, but there is no WiFi provided, nor power, and your stuff must be able to fit at a long table you share with others. Maybe this will be changed as last time (3/17) was the first one I think, but at the time there were no cubicles or anything like what is avaialbe in many clubhouses at the tracks.

I want to say around $250 for the winning score. There was an odds limit on longshots, and the combined effects of a flat bet requirement and 10 race requirement (no more, no less) explains the low total.

I don't know this contest specifically but as a general rule for all contests, you want to end up adding about one and a half times the starting bankroll to your total. As a general rule, this will put you in the mix.
