5/28: Belmont Park (6th-11th)

BELMONT PARK

POST-SCRATCHES

6th: OC/N2X, 3+, 1m (P6, P3, DD)

Wow.. $79k pot and a race that could easily have a name on it..

Best Value: #9 Star of New York 6-1 2nd
Next Best: #4 Buffum 7-5 WON ($5.70)
Exotics Use: #3 Simba's Story 5-1 7th
Super Add: #1 Star Harbour 12-1 4th

7th: 18th Sands Point (G2), 3yo-F, 8.5f-IT (P4, P3, DD)

Most Likely: #3 Somali Lemonade 1-1 4th
Best Value: #6 Preach Tome Daddy 10-1 5th
Next Best: #5 Regalo Mia 3-1 2nd
Exotics Use: #8 Firehouse Red 6-1 7th

8th: 44th Ogden Phipps (G1), F&M-3+, 8.5f (P3, DD)

Top pair obviously stand out on class/accomplishment, but next three (Cash for Clunkers, She's All In, Juanita) all respectable distaffers that are on the improve..

Most Likely: #2 Awesome Maria 4-5 3rd
Next Best: #4 It's Tricky 2-1 WON ($6.20)
Exotics Use: #5 Juanita 12-1 5th

9th: 82nd Acorn (G1), 3yo-F, 1m (P3, DD)

Contested could get front end company from Aubby K and has to negotiate an added furlong. Respect but doesn't have to win. On Fire Baby cuts back to one mile which may be her ideal scenario..

Most Likely: #1 Contested 7-5 WON ($4.10)
Next Best: #3 On Fire Baby 5-2 4th
Best Zalue: #4 Zo Impressive 5-1 2nd
Exotics Use: #6 Aubby K 3-1 3rd

10th: 119th Metropolitan H. (G1), 3+, 1m (DD)

As historic and important a race as is run in this country. Caleb's Posse was made the 8-5 ML fave by Eric Donovan, but expect To Honor and Serve (3-1) will draw a lot of money. Pace scenario will be everything here, and if Shackleford and Saginaw don't mix it up too much on the front end, there's no guarantee Caleb's Posse gets his necessary target(s). Could that open the door for Nakatani to pull the same clever stunt with Jackson's Bend that he did in the Carter? Absolutely. Meanhile, Lezcano has his own decisions to make with To Honor and Serve breaking from the rail. Go with Shack a bit early for position before settling for an inside stalking trip? Probably. And don't forget rock solid Caixa Electronica either, 3rd in this a year ago at 8-1, cutting back from the 3 turn Charles Town score and as fast as any here on best. Those complaining about a field of 6 in this august event clearly don't bet. Outstanding edition of one of the best races run in the U.S. and no winner would be a surprise..

Best Value: #2 Shackleford 4-1 WON ($8.80)
Next Best: #3 Caleb's Posse 8-5 2nd
Exotics Use: #1 To Honor and Serve 3-1 3rd
Super Add: #5 Caixa Electronica 15-1 4th

<$75 P4 Play:

7: 3-5-6
8: 2-4
9: 1-3-4-6
10: 1-2-3-4-5-6

3x2x4x6 = 144 x .50 = $72

11th: NY-MSW, 3+, 1m-T

Most Likely: #5 Windafull 2-1 2nd
Best Value: #2 Late SCR
Next Best: #4 Seljuk 6-1 6th
Exotics Use: #12 Barnards Gallery 12-1 7th

Good luck!
Steve

Met Mile is the Race of the Year as far as I'm concerned. This would be the race of the day on Breeders cup day if they were to put that field together. Any horse would not be a shock.

since 1990 i do not believe a better cast has been assembled and that 1990 edition was star studded:
blacktie affair
easy goer
housebuster and the winner criminal type
small field or not there is no luster lacking on this great day:{>:

Don't need to bet to enjoy this race. What a great race and once again the Shack shows up to the plate. Who doesn't admire a horse that cut out those fractions and keep going.

Im a Shack fan, and not a big Caleb fan. I have more respect for him now, then I did after his HUGE setup BC win. Shack had everything his way, and got it done like a good horse should. Caleb ran really well today.
