If you're gonna quote someone you have to attribute it. :p

"That is one dumb mofeaux." - Paddy O'Prado, on Kent.

Gate Dancer 05-22-2012 04:32 PM

Frankly Kent, I wish you hadn't taken the call from the reporter to make these comments. Pathetic.

slotdirt 05-22-2012 04:33 PM

Well, to be fair, his point on the nuances of riding at Belmont is a good one.

I was actually quoting myself!!

He's so dumb!

I don't see what was so bad about the interview. He made some good points in there.

Oh, he made some points alright...but they weren't in the interview...they were on the breath-o-liezer

They should put ol Kent up on IHA...he'd show 'em ( and his dancecard is open too)

"How bout this little "blurb" in the article..."but as a jockey when I ride a horse that’s running off, the only reason I keep a hold of him is public appearance.."

How can a Hall of Famer even SAY that, even if he really thinks it's how it's done....

That's what the sport needs..."appearances"

Are you familiar with why he didn't ride in the Preakness?

NTamm1215 05-22-2012 06:43 PM

It would have been easier for him to say, "Mario better be careful not to f.uck it up in the Belmont, I know I did."

That was some public appearance in Big Brown's Belmont.

Yes. Despite that, all I see in the article is stuff about Belmont riding tactics and being concerned a first timer like Mario will mess up. Sounds understandable.

The part about only holding a runoff horse for appearance is a little strange. But his advice towards Mario does not relate to his own problems.

I guess the idea is that since you couldn't ride a race 3 days ago because you were an idiot....just keep your mouth shut now.

There are only so many people who fit the job description of being less than 5'5" and under 115lbs... being able to think is secondary.

fpsoxfan 05-23-2012 05:43 AM

Apparently he had a little more wine with dinner before he did this interview. One more reason why I hope I'll have Another wins the Belmont.

MaTH716 05-23-2012 06:47 AM

Honestly, at this point does anyone care what Kent has to say? It's a shame, but he's become irrelevant and he has no one to blame but himself.

Coach Pants 05-23-2012 06:51 AM

I feel bad for Kent. He looks like a regular person and with that comes ego. He's like the Brad Pitt of jockeys. All of the hangers on and temptation plus the ego and zero self awareness.

Cut him some slack. Remember he is a jockey.

I'm afraid his credibility is a little susupect after his latest escapades. He also didn't make any points that haven't been made before. We all get that the track is different from the typical US track. It's brought up every year at this time.
