The American Basketball Association ( http://abalive.com/ ) is an absolute joke and seems to exist solely to collect money from deluded businessmen who want to own a "professional" sports franchise and equally deluded players who want to play "pro" basketball. They charge people for franchise rights and then charge players tryout fees and then group teams into regional leagues with some teams playing home games at middle schools and parks and rec gyms. Teams come and go and huge parts of the schedules never even get played.
