4/29 DERBY/OAKS DAWN PATROL: Baffert gives Bode knockers a lesson..

BODEMEISTER, despite dragging himself around in morning jogs since his work Tuesday, drilled a sharp :59.3 five-eighths with triple gallop out past the 6f (1:12.1), 7f (:1:25.2) and mile (1:39.4) in company with JEMIMA'S PEARL. Started 4L behind the filly and finished 2L in front. All on his own. Was never asked in body of work. Good effort for the filly too who will take to Friday's feature along with stablemate EDEN'S MOON.

Nice..out in 25 and change

OPTIMIZER with a solid, steady drill in 1:00.2 while awaiting the opportunity to run. Jon Court aboard.

LIAISON had a very good gallop after the Derby/Oaks workers finished. Has looked better since the arduous workout the other day where Bridgmohan asked repeatedly for effort from him. Grinder style that may just keep plugging away in the final Derby quarter while others back up..

BELIEVE YOU CAN worked a Larry Jones speed drill going 5f in :58.40, but it was not one of those sub :59 drills that makes you 'ooh' and 'ahh'. Seemed like she wanted to get out in the late stages and didn't move as smoothly as she has mornings. Slightly disappointing because she has impressed daily since I've been here including the more visually appealing spin last week. (As I write, one proviso worth noting is the sealed, sloppy track.)

I'LL HAVE ANOTHER, ROUSING SERMON, CREATIVE CAUSE all with easy first looks over the track..

I heard I'll Have Another coat had lots of dapples and is really beautiful looking. Whats your take Steve?

He never came past the wire where I could see him close up. He was in the midst of what looked like a spirited 2 minute lick when he rather abruptly pulled up at the top of the lane. Was odd actually. He then hooked up with Lava Man there and walked the wrong way to the backstretch and out the gap.

Will see more tomorrow...

CREATIVE CAUSE looked good and eager to be out there. Went around once the wrong way with his pony who at one point jumped into him and gave him a pretty good hip check. Is supposed to have a 3f blowout Tuesday..

I know I'm the only one who cares because he's the local horse, but was there not a single iPhone or flip camera focused on Done Talking when he worked yesterday? Surely, some journalist somewhere watched the work, right?

This is Haskin's area of expertise. He'll undoubtedly weigh in soon.

This doesn't sound very encouraging

Don't know if much can be made out of it. I'll Have Another's last workout in Hollywood was unconventional the way he started and ended.

Steve:

Any analysis from anyone on Gemologist and El Padrino's works this morning at Palm Meadows?

Track was labeled as "muddy".....

I think there's little to be gleaned either way under the conditions, but we'll wait to hear directly from Dave Grening tomorrow.. In advance of that, I'm discouraged by what we're hearing about El Padrino. Had hoped there would be an opportunity to work him into things but he apparently continues to disappoint observers.

I see that HRTV has all the works available on their website, but only for "premium" subscribers.
