Favorite Trick still 'available' for breeding

I was listening to ATR and the talk about Ghostzapper which sent me on a merry journey of rewatching old races including the old stretch battle with Saint Liam. Anyway, Youtube suggests one of Skip Away's races on the side and that made me think of Favorite Trick who was lost in a barn fire. I was curious to see how JEH Stallion Station was these days (found them standing Euroears and Preachinatthebar among others) and did a double take when I saw that Favorite Trick was listed at $3,000 for his 2012 fee. Obviously it's through non-JC allowed ICSI for QH mares basically.

He may be gone, but it was kinda neat to see him carrying on in a manner of speaking. I knew they did this with QH stallions, but it never occurred to me to think of it as an option for Favorite Trick. I wonder how much of his, uh, assets are available and when the farm expects to run out.

Most of the top twenty or so horses from that crop have died horrible or premature deaths.

Still sad about Real Quiet. It felt like there was more to him as a sire and broodmare sire and we really missed out. I hope we see his daughters helping those bm sire stats well into the future. He deserves it. Glad he got a horse like Midnight Lute before he passed. It's weird talking about the potential of a then-15yo stallion as opposed to just the accomplishments, but RQ definitely had more to give.

yeah, some tb stallions are used to breed appendix quarter horses. it's my understanding that alydar is in the pedigrees of many appendix qh racers. pretty neat stuff. i wonder how many mares they can 'cover' tho with frozen specimens? add extenders to get more bred from a sample? not something i've pondered, probably for a reason! lol

Yeah, I remember Alydar being used to cover QH mares. I thought that was really odd. I'd have thought his sire would have made a much better choice.

Oh, that's right. Lundy was a money grubbing whore.

After Storm Cat was pensioned, he was offered for QH breeding at $20,000.

Though I don't think he paid $20,000

The article notes that Hennessy sired a QH champion.

Wow -- I never knew this.

Carson City might have been a very good quarter horse sire.

QH breeders can breed to his son, Quick Action, for $1500. Cooled semen available!
