Who will win Michigan tonight?
Who do you think will win Michigan tonight?
|
Michigan 6% reporting
With 6% reporting so far:
Santorum, Rick 40% Romney, Mitt 39 Paul, Ron 11 Gingrich, Newt 7 ------------------------- reporting 35% Romney desperate to pull out the win in his home state Santorum, Rick 38 Romney, Mitt 41 Paul, Ron 12 Gingrich, Newt 7 |
Nobody is declaring victory yet, but with only rural districts remaining, looks like Romney has pulled it out in Michigan.
reporting 66% Santorum, Rick 36% Romney, Mitt 40 Paul, Ron 12 Gingrich, Newt 7 |
Is the Grinch still around?...Stick a fork in em, he's cooked....I'm rooting for Santorium....so is Obama...:D

'Although Santorum has a long record of opposition to abortion, that issue was the deciding one for only 14 percent of voters.'
'But Romney, a Mormon, edged Santorum, a Catholic, among Catholic voters, getting 43 percent to Santorum’s 37 percent.' http://nbcpolitics.msnbc.msn.com/_ne...rt-in-michigan |
THank the Morman god that Romney won.
If Santorum gets the nomination, I won't just stay home.. but I'll actually vote for Obama. twice if I can. |
Talking heads have been pointing out that, if Santorum wins the nomination and runs in the general as the whacky, extreme candidate he is, this is good for the GOP in the end, as the wingnuts can be exposed for their extremism, disinfranchised and banished again from the party as happened 50 years ago (it's basically the same John Bircher redux)
If Romney wins the nomination, the wingnuts will stay around, blaming Romney's electoral loss to Obama upon Romney being too moderate, thus empowering them to try for an even more extreme conservative, and ruin the party in 2016, too. So some are postulating that the GOP would prefer Santorum just take it, give up this electoral cycle, and come back strong with a Jeb Bush in 2016. And the more extreme wingnuts gone. Paul Ryan, Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, and Mitch Daniels have all, so far, refused to jump in at the GOP convention, and ruin their brand for their future presidential aspirations. Interesting take. It is true that Nixon and Reagan would be considered RHINO by todays wingnutters. The GOP "brand" is teetering on the edge. |
