NYRA: Hansen runs 'as is'

NYRA tells Dr. Hansen the horse runs as nature intended. No colored tail. No colored mane.

He can be a horse of a different color if they remake 'The Wizard of Oz'.

I, for one, am glad that's behind us.

Hard to say. How many people have dyed their hair or wear wigs, etc.? It does seem odd but it might have added some flair.

Coach Pants 02-16-2012 04:02 PM

Maybe fruitcake can invite Ric Flair instead?

3kings 02-16-2012 04:15 PM

Could the owner Dr. Hanson be anymore of a media whore? First the look at me Eclipse speech, now this. I hate to wish evil on the horse because of the owner but I hope he never wins another race.

Well, they could not wash the urine stains out, and run him as a yellow pinto. Or the groom could leave the Quic Silver or bluing on too long, and the horse could run as pale sky blue, or even green :D

Stevie honoring Gary Carter

Monsieur Bog...

It's like a papal visit when you grace us with your presence. Like... Santa Clause! Instead of gifts you bring us tiny little gems so no... whilst I didn't used to work there I can a) give you a free show anyway, b) dye your hair in the color you had hoped for for Hansen to have or c) present you with the plethora of fine yet imaginary gifts behind door number three.

Yours faithfully,

mmsc

I'd respectfully disagree, Jay. I consider the decision to be very much an indication of sense.

I must say that while initially I agreed with NYRA's decree, Hovdey's piece gave me pause (not that NYRA cares one iota what I think). The "suggest exploitation" quote, I think, is a winner. Anyway, it's done. We can all rest assured that there's no exploitin' goin' on.

Jay Hovdey sees big picture

At first I thought it was ridiculous, but now I agree with Jay Hovdey--- It would have been lighthearted publicity, and face booked and tweeted all over the place.

Cannon Shell 02-20-2012 05:39 PM

The publicity would be a farce and meaningless. If a Derby prep race with the defending eclipse award winning 2 year old in it needs a colored freaking mane and tail for publicity then we should probably just close up shop right now. Anyone interested in a horse because it has a colored tail is too stupid to become a worthwhile follower (i.e. betting customer) anyway.

TheSpyder 02-20-2012 05:44 PM

So are saying is you have never dyed your hair?
