1/22: Gulfstream (5th-11th)

Endured frustrating beats for three-quarters of the day before finally catching fire at Fair Grounds late. Missing a $16k P4 was no pleasure certainly when I left $64 Atlantic Titan off the ticket, but $32.80 Inspired in the Pan Zareta resulted in big P3 ($580) and triple ($456) hits. The Lecomte tri of $121 was surpringly generous too given it included the three favorites. So after leaking bankroll for a few hours, things roared home and I hope many did well. Gulfstream with a good slate today..

GULFSTREAM PARK

POST-SCRATCHES

5th: ALW/N1X, 4+, 1m (P3, DD, Super)

Terrific, well-matched group. Would love to completely against Simba's Story (2-1) but there's a chance that no one runs with him early. Several here have run faster than him, but he is 2nd off the break and kept nice company as a 3yo..

Best Value: #8 Self Control 6-1 DH-2nd
Next Best: #7 Simba's Story 2-1 WON ($7.60)
Exotics Use: #4 Voodoo Storm 5-1 5th
Super Add: #5 E. H. Indy 4-1 DH-2nd

6th: MSW, 3yo-F, 9f-T/108' (P6, P3, DD, Super)

Interesting and wide open set of turf missies with 3 high profile (Mott, Matt, McGaughey) firsters involved. Romans sends Tapitsfly sister Marlin Mission 2nd of break. Motion/TVI grey M'Dearest gets a big pilot upgrade..

Best Value: #7 M'Dearest 6-1 3rd
Next Best: #10 Marlin Mission 7-2 4th
Exotics Use: #4 Manda Bay 4-1 2nd
Super Add: #9 Cheimon 10-1 WON ($17.40)

7th: CLM, 4+, 1m (P5, P3, DD, Super)

Rough way to start the P5 with cheap, in/out claimers..

Most Likely: #2 Suave Jazz 5-2 2nd
Best Value: #8 Mize the Big Cat 8-1 3rd
Next Best: #3 Subtitles 3-1 4th
Exotics Use: #9 False Economy 5-1 7th

8th: OC/N2X, 4+, 1m-T/48' (P4, P3, DD, Super)

Most Likely: #2 Clear Attempt 4-1 2nd
Best Value: #3 Minnie Punt 5-1 3rd
Next Best: #4 Monument Hill 3-1 WON ($5.00)
Exotics Use: #5 Middie 8-1 5th

9th: MSW, 3yo-F, 6f (P3, DD, Super)

Only one here has made a start (#4 On the Same Page) and after that you have to rely on trainer acumen, work pattern & pedigree. Albertrani has been sending firsters out sharp since fall and Zo Impressive (Hard Spun) is out of SW Zoftig making her a half to MSW Zaftig...

Best Value: #10 Zo Impressive 10-1 WON ($24.40)
Next Best: #6 Morrow Cove 5-1 2nd
Exotics Use: #9 Iconic Song 10-1 5th
Super Add: #7 Tahima 10-1 7th

10th: 19th Sweetest Chant, 3yo-F, 1m-T/48' (DD, Super)

Dayatthespa is supposed to beat these, but there are a lot of gals in here that want to be part of the pace..

Most Likely: #9 Dayatthespa 5-2 WON ($4.80)
Next Best: #8 Ann of the Dance 3-1 -
Exotics Use: #5 Frolic's Revenge 5-1 3rd
Super Add: #2 Wholelottashakin 8-1 2nd

11th: CLM/N3L, 4+, 8.5f-T/108' (Super, Super Hi-5)

$19k Super Hi-5 C/O here..

Most Likely: #11 Get a Grip 3-1 8th
Best Value: #6 Mr. Irons 12-1 4th
Next Best: #7 Ha Long Bay 4-1 2nd
Exotics Use: #3 Change of Command 15-1 WON ($22.40)
Hi-5 Play: #9 Palatine Hill 10-1 9th

<$50 P5 Play:

7: 2-3-8
8: 2-3-4-5
9: 6-10
10: 9
11: 3-6-7-11

3x4x2x1x4 = 96 x .50 = $48

$0.50 Pick 5 (7/4/10/3,9,10/3) Paid $42.75 (4OF5) x 3 = $128.25

<$75 P4 Play:

8: 2-3-4
9: 6-7-9-10
10: 5-8-9
11: 3-6-7-11

3x4x3x4 = 144 x .50 = $72

$0.50 Pick 4 (4/10/3,9,10/3) Paid $1,321.15

Good luck!
Steve

Yup.

Dead heats are tough particularly if you don't have a good reverse angle shot. Also on digital, when you blow up over 200% pixelation makes noses uneven and it is hard to determine.

The placing judges are very careful in that regard. When it doubt it is a DEAD HEAT, but otherwise, in my experience as a photo finish camera, they do not reach that conclusion rapidly.

You'll figure it out eventually Steve.

6th:
Where is the speed coming from.
Taking a shot that the #3 is the rare Mott firster thats ready. Works in Nov were faster than latest. Mott sent out a firster just like this at the Spa.

7 10

Given a good trip the 7 should graduate today

Works only mean they exercise well

I continually laugh at those who suggest that a workout is anything BUT exercise.....From WAY up in the grandstands on any afternoon, the gurus who NEVER get up at 4:30 AM to actually WATCH and experience them hold court for their gullible crowd while those who go out and WITNESS them have a very different take....Hell the meds used alone make them irrelevant to the afternoon counterparts

ADJMK 01-22-2012 02:12 PM

At least Prado can read a form and put the #9 right on the pace.
The #3 hopped at the start and came from last to only get beat a few lengths. May be one to watch

travelling_vic 01-22-2012 02:21 PM

7th GP, it appears that 8 and 9 may be moving best late...if, and this is doubtful, if the rail horse can find Delaware form it again, that one could be bothersome
