Refunds at FG

Races 3 & 4 being run for purse money only. Tote delay.

On the badnews-O-meter that's only about a 3.:zz:

Looks like Tampa is having some issues as well.

Considering I loved Grand Illumination, it was more like a 7 or 8 for me.

I want to preface this by saying I know nothing about how tote systems work but ummm why does this kind of thing even happen anymore?

Isn't money spent making sure these things run properly?

There are things I don't understand... why doesn't every track use trackus, this kind of thing, running races at the same exact time... I sound like a complete moron but you guys know what I'm asking, right?

Nothing should be outdated in racing and yet it seems like things aren't given proper attention.

Okay I don't know of what i speak here but this **** shouldn't happen, should it?

Your heightened disappointment understandable.

The software itself is usually not to blame. It's pretty robust and does a good job. The issue are the lines between facilities. If the hub goes down, it's like an airline hub stopping all incoming/outgoing traffic. And since there are more than one providers/hubs, it's a lot of communication that needs to be uninterrupted.

But yes, I'm sure the "system" could use $$$ and an upgrade.

Thanks for explaining it cause... well first off I wasn't playing FG or anything... I feel like why should this ever happen. I was thinking of a lot of unrelated things but if you think about them they are connected in a way...

A year or two ago lots of us got this email from Alex Waldrop wherein he asked for comments, suggestions, etc.

I'm assuming some of the slots money in various placs goes to the tracks (?).

The stock market wouldn't have to stop for a while cause there was a problem... right?

Do you see what I'm saying? This is not right and for the people playing... I just feel like it's outrageous that this kind of thing can happen.

Everything needs to be updated, suggestions need to be listened to. It should be completely fluid for the players... everything works without question and resources used to the best advantage possible (exmp. trackus. I don't watch too much tvg but what is the point of it if they don't talk about it? Of course that could just be me and I don't watch when they do or something. :wf :D).

If I can text people in Hong Kong I should be able to play any track. If JPL can begin a 5 year mission sending Juno to Jupiter I should be able to bet a race at Fair Grounds if i so desire!

It shouldn't happen. This isn't the 1950s. For God sake they need to spend the money and fix anything that needs to be fixed.

Whew! Okay better now. :o

The hub that FG was using in Houston went down just before the Louisiana Derby was to be run in the year that Fifty Stars win it for Asmussen. You could bet it if you were off-track, but not if you were at Fair Grounds. It was incredibly frustrating, although I was glad I couldn't bet it after Steve's bomb won.

I believe, and don't quote me on this, but there used to be more hubs than there are now as recently some (or maybe just one) have consolidated.

I can't say I disagree with the need to keep technology up to par.
