Fed Biz what did you all think?

happened to see this race live think 3rd from SA today and thought it was pretty impressive. i would be curious to know the beyer for him. anyone else on here see it and if so what were your impressions?

Calzone Lord 12-31-2011 01:21 AM

Fed Biz looked like a very good prospect today.

I had mentioned in the thread about the Pletcher Discreet Cat 2yo that the Macho Rocket debut maiden race at Hollywood Park was sure to be a productive race.

Macho Rocket was the sales topper at OBS April. He worked an unblinkered 1/4 mile in a sales best 20.40 seconds. He sold for just $22,000 as a yearling -- and resold for $825,000 at OBS April.

Baffert had been working Macho Rocket for seemingly forever and even had multiple six furlong works into him and about six gate works into him before his debut.

I was pretty certain Macho Rocket would debut at odds-on favortisim if Baffert ever got around to bothering to run him in a race.

He debuts on a Sunday at Hollywood Park with Fed Biz in the last race. Fed Biz (A Giant's Causeway out of Wild Again) was the one who was bet. Macho Rocket went wire-to-wire at 6-to-1 odds.

TVG cameras showed Baffert staying to watch that race (it was like 8 or 9 PM) ... they pan to him after Macho Rocket won and Baffert looked disgusted. You could tell by his reaction he didn't give a sh!t about Macho Rocket winning and Fed Biz was the reason he was there.

Bling Cha Bling pressed Macho Rocket -- made a serious bid for the lead against him on the turn -- and faded to finish 7th. He came back and destroyed a MSW field wire-to-wire in a grass sprint. Fed Biz was 4th as a beaten favorite -- he won the faster of split heats today as a 2nd time starter. Zackn'mat was 2nd to Macho Rocket last out -- he was 2nd to Fed Biz today at 8/1 odds -- and ran faster than the winner of the other split heat at Santa Anita went two races later today.

Very sharp allowance win by Fed Biz at Santa Anita a few minutes ago.

Zackn'mat also returned to win his next start. Macho Rocket is sidelined.

Pretty effortless with the OK Consulado as sparing partner. 1:34.3.

Im sitting here at work gettin ready to leave good to hear that he did ok. i was wondering why he was entered in this spot but im glad to hear that things went well. where does he go next? i know this sounds dumb but i was kinda thinking Arkansas maybe???? i just wonder if baffert is gonna keep him away from liason.

8.5f options would be San Felipe March 10 or Rebel March 17.

If Baffert thought he could straight to 9f, Sunland Derby is March 25.

Yep.

Bejarano has hustled him into stride in his last two races now -- that really back-fired last time and got him caught in a breakaway duel which he was wrestled out of on the backstretch...this time he was able to settle him a little easier because of the outside post.

Very green horse as well once he gets clear. He's running fast now and I get the feeling he has a lot of room for improvement and development.

I'm interested to see how he performs when he's given a more passive ride from the gate.

So far -- El Padrino (100) is the only horse in this crop to run a triple digit Beyer in a 2-turn route and that came over a wet track.

The days two dirt route races are now complete at Santa Anita and I think there's a very good chance this Beyer will come back right around 100.

A beast in the making. Would be great to see Kaleem have some racing luck given the investment that he's made into this game.

See if you can find out what's up with Macho Rocket for me.

His only start was that good maiden win in Fed Biz's debut race and he hasn't worked since Jan 9th.

He had a sales-best 20.40 unblinkered 1/4 mile at OBS April: http://obssales.com/aprcatalog/2011/1049.wmv

RockHardTen1985 02-09-2012 08:43 PM

I think he's the best 3yr old in the country right now. He's by the best sire and is trained by the best trainer.... It should all work out. Ill take him, battle hardened and and horse who ran second to el padrino who's name I forget. Give me those 3 n I have a derby winner.

Looks like a Southern Cal speedball. Very good horse but maybe not Derby type.

He's hardly a 'California speedball' having already displayed his 2 turn predilection in the back to back mile wins without rankness and is bred top and bottom to go a real route of ground.

Thats not a bad number at all. And he looked pretty good to me doing it.

wac 02-10-2012 10:21 AM

so long/short his value in the 1st pool of KD is gonna be zilcho???? I know i know that future bets are dumb but my wife and i just had a new baby and i haven't had time to reallyl do much horse racing wise and it owuld give me something to watch for.

Linny 02-10-2012 10:53 AM

Not bred like a speedball or an early maturing type at all. He's been in what appear to be among the strongest of the races for his generation at his level. He won nicely on the stretchout and beat a colt that came back to win. I don't they paid $950k for a horse that might win the Pat O'Brien. He's got all the earmarks of a classic colt.
