Hate to see those trees go.

Arletta 12-01-2011 01:42 PM

OMG!

trackrat59 12-01-2011 02:16 PM

I hope all humans and horses are ok. Sorry to see this happen.

jezebel 12-01-2011 02:18 PM

I live very near Santa Anita, and have never seen winds like this. They are predicting that it may even be worse tonight.

PatCummings 12-01-2011 02:23 PM

Freak weather can happen anywhere...remember that...

thank you for that insight.

LARHAGE 12-01-2011 02:44 PM

There were 4 over-turned big rigs on the 15 fwy and too many trees to even count down all over every county in the Southland, looks like a war zone !

That insight seemed to be missing amongst the "Santa Anita should be the only host of the BC BECAUSE of the potential weather issues other places" comments...

This is just idiotic. There are many reasons that Santa Anita should not be the only BC host track but to use this freek weather occurance does not help your arguement.

The size of the tree uprooting is amazing.....

LARHAGE 12-01-2011 11:26 PM

It's not a small area, it's all over L.A, San Bernardino and Riverside counties, pretty much all of Southern California!

Soaring Softly 12-01-2011 11:28 PM

Here's a shot I found of the tree that went down, displaying it's roots in Steve's picture above:

And another:

It's pretty sad.

Crazy thing is I had people that lived five miles from me and they had crazy winds but I had nothing.

Talk about not understanding the original intent...

It was a goof on the people who say the BC shouldn't be at Belmont because of the October snow, cold weather, etc...

Wasn't intended to be funny, just referencing the earlier heated debates. Did enjoy your appearance on today's show, though.
