CD Sat card ?

when you have a card like thy do at CD on Sat all 2yr olds how do you guys handicap the races? im going thru it tonight and it looks like most of the races esp the stakes races are going to be tough without a lot to go on. you look at the trainer stats? workouts? just want to be able to put a decent plan togheter as i enjoy the 2yr old races b/c you could be watching a star in the making. any help is appreciated.

I've been looking at the CD Saturday card too.

For what it's worth. I use Formulator so I can look at various stats.
I usually do the following:

1. Check trainer stats for 2YOs. I stick to the surface they are running on, in this case dirt.

2. I check the sire lists at BloodHorse. Here's the link. You can check out sires that are doing well with their 2YOs.
http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/thoroughbred-breeding/sire-lists/general

3. I look at works but it's difficult to know how a 2YO will react for their first race. They could have great works but you just never know. I like the 2YOs with at least one race under their belts.

4. I look at the odds board to see if there is anything telling for first time starters.

5. I look at the distance numbers for each 2YO to see if he/she will favor the distance they are running for that race. (top right in each horses PPs)

Hope this helps. Best of luck.:$:

Look at it the same way you would any other card. There are plenty of trainer stats for 2yr olds. Dont try to be 2 clever, do the same thing you would for any other card. I agree about watching 2yr old races, I love it. GL

There is no requirement to bet every card.

A card like today's at CD is great for looking for next out opportunities or just hoping to see a star in the making. For making money, not so much.

If you don't like betting babies, better to walk away, or look it over and watch the races with an eye toward later races. (Those horses might be needed down the line in a P3 or P4 situation.)

I like them but I mainly look for angles I like to play with young horses including stretchouts, surface changes and class moves. If I don't see an angle I like, I look over the race and watch, but don't bet. There are planty of betting opportunities elsewhere.

IMO the stars of tomorrow card late in the CD meet is the toughest card of the year to bet. You have a bunch of 2 year olds, who's abilities are still not determined; many of whom have never run, and the majority of those who have run, have only run on Polytrack at Kee, AP or TP. Great card to pass.
