Why was Announce scratched from FnM Turf?

what happened? sorry if this is a stupid question. But I really dont know, just makes me think if she was in the race maybe she wins instead of Perfect Shirl

She hit the gate, or the truck on track. Either way it did not look that serious and the connections were visually upset about the Vets decision.

I thought I heard that she ended up getting stitches for a gash.

Her leg required stitches apparently. Not sure how many. Does she normally act that nutty pre-race? The jockey started to come off when she hit the ambulance and bounced back into the saddle.

Could this be an over-reaction to last year's no scratch?

Seems like it.

10 metal stitches in the right hind

although initially they might have thought it was an over-reaction due to last year, the news that she needed 10 stitches ought to squelch that talk. as the vet said, not enough time to assess any underlying issues-right call imo.

My question would be why is the horse ambulance on the racetrack?
