Fleet Indian Gone

From the TDN

Champion Fleet Indian (Indian Charlie--Hustleeta, by Alfeet) died Saturday night at Summer Wind Farm in Georgetown, Kentucky. “She had colic surgery Wednesday and she died of complications last night,” explained Summer Wind Farm’s Karen Bailey. Fleet Indian won the 2006 GI Beldame S., GI Personal Ensign S. and GII Delaware H. before being named that year’s champion older mare. In foal to Storm Cat, the mare was acquired privately by Summer Wind after leaving the ring unsold at $3.9 million at the 2007 Keeneland November sale. Her Storm Cat colt, Storm ‘n Indian, sold to John Ferguson for $2.05 million at the 2009 Keeneland September sale. Summer Wind retained Fleet Indian’s A.P. Indy foal of 2009 and sold a Distorted Humor filly out of the mare for $500,000 at this year’s Keeneland September sale. Not in foal this year, Fleet Indian has a weanling filly by Medaglia d’Oro. Plans for the weanling are still up in the air. “It’s hard to say [what we’ll do with the weanling],” Bailey said. “We love the daughters out of our good mares.”

Oh man I was hoping it wasn't true.

I'm sorry for all her connections, past and present, and especially to the Saylor family cause I cannot imagine having to deal with yet another loss.

Poor horse had been through so much in her short life...

Rest in peace.

I'm no vet, but that doesn't look like a well horse.

Broodmares burn a lot of calories nursing young foals. We saw Halfbridled too and she looked very similar
