Santa Anita adds .50 P5 with 14% skim

SANTA ANITA TO OFFER 50 CENT 14% TAKEOUT PLAYERS PICK 5

ARCADIA, Calif. (Sept. 20, 2011)—Santa Anita Park has announced it will offer fans California’s newest and most popular exotic wager, the 50-cent, Players’ Pick Five, which features a fan-friendly low takeout of 14 percent when its 2011 Autumn Meet begins on Friday, Sept. 30.

The wager, which requires players to select five winners in five consecutive races, will be offered on the first five races each racing day.

“This has proven to be an incredibly popular wager since it was introduced approximately five months ago,” said Santa Anita President George Haines. “The 50-cent minimum is very appealing to people because it allows them to cover several horses in each race for a modest investment.

“The 14 percent takeout rate is something many of our best customers requested earlier this year and it’s certainly proven to be successful with this bet. There will be no consolation component to this wager, so our objective is to generate big pools and big payouts.”

Awesome news.... Loved this bet at Del Mar, hopefully Hollywood will continue the trend and do away with or at least slash into the 30% consol.

I'm picturing about 100 rabid dogs fighting over a tit mouse corpse.

They probably raised the prices for thier warm beer and cold hot dogs to make up for it.
